Air to Air OR Air to Water???

well i got to talking to a few friends last night about my setup and what i should do...

and i was thinking 1 nasty a/a for the twins...

well...

One of them has a TT mustang that is running dual a/w and says i should go that way...

i am kinda torn between the 2...

i know the a/w would be better for track use...

he says his IATs staging are 55 degrees... and down the track its 65-70...

i am sure thats iced and all..

he says he can get me the parts (a/w intercoolers) for the price of a nice front mount that would be good enough for my level i am shooting for...

i have the hook up on a mini radiator/HE so i would spend about 200 on a HE then 150 on a tank that would stay in my bed then 40 on hoses then x amount on a PUMP... idk how big of a pump i will need could i use a stocker...

he says the best way to feed the pumps is through a Y same on return....

Nate.. anyone lol.. care to shed some light on me with this one...

as yall know truck is being built now.. TT 5.4 DOHC <~~~ sex on wheels!!!!

turbos are bigger then 60s... each IC would support 1000 hp.. which is where i would need to be.. roughly that would put me maxing them out at 1400rwhp...

thats with a 30% driveline loss....

I'm not into full out drag vehicles, so I'm with A/A. No pumps to die, no water to leak. Simple...effective.

Dallas its all about what your purpose is going to be with your build. If you are building a street vehicle with occassional strip use then an air to air will work just fine for you. If you go all out race like myself then you would want an air to water for the best effeciancy in keeping that turbo or turbos cool down the 1320 on each pass.

i honestly dont plan on driving the truck everyday...

I have 21k on my odo and would like to keep it somewhat low... It will be a nice day vehicle...

dont get me wrong all our races around here if i drive there would take a solid 30 min to get to anywhere.. the LOCAL 1/4 mile is about 1 hr from me...

i dont want something that i will have to pull over and wait to cool down...

the way i see it...

2 a/w and a front mount HE with a 5 gal tank in the bed...

i think that would allow me to drive it around here... Also my son lives in houston so i would like to be able to drive it down there...

I just dont know how well the a/w would hold up..i mean i never had any issues with my stocker... so IDK...

i am 99% set on the a/w setup...

Water-Air for sure. With the proper set up and components, it'll be more efficient on the street, and 10 times more efficient at the track.
