motor keeps rubbing against steering rod

Two years ago I got a turbo kit from PTS. I just came back from deployment and finally got some time to play with the truck. I've got everthing mounted new motor etc. I am having an issue with the drivers side header rubbing against my steering rod....which is making my steering rod lock up. Im curious if anyone has had this issue. I replaced the old motor mounts with new oem mounts...but its not helping....does anyone have any ideas? Maybe solid mounts...?

I had the same issue, for me it was the V-band bolt that was rubbing. I had to rotate it so the bolt was on the side and not the top.

I had the same issue with the 2 sets of headers and hot side piping from those turds.

I solved it by fabbing up an engine limiter from the driver's side frame rail to the driver's side cylinder head. I then added just a bit of preload to it to just keep it off the steering joint.

Both trucks have performed well with this set up on them for many miles and there is no issue with vibration due to the solid limiter.

I used two tabs welded to the frame rail and a link with a left and right hand rod end in it so that the preload could be adjusted without a major hassle. I attached the other end to the stud that's hanging off the timing chain cover.

Paul

P.S. I'll see if I could dig up some pictures.

Thanks Paul for the recommendation. If you do have sometime and you can post the pictures that would be great.

Skid that looks really good. That might be what Ill end up doing. Are you using the truck to race or just a daily driver?
