Turbo setup (For street Only)

Hi there.. how are you everyone, my friend here in kuwait thinking to do turbo on his 01 lightning, but he wanna to decide to go twin or single setup for street roll racing, cuz we don't have drag strip in here that's why we like street racing soo much... so i would like to ask anybody have opinion how this gonna work... we thinking about GT4718R and twin GT35R

why you said 76mm, i think GT4718R is better.... make more power with less boost= less stress on the motor

BTW, where can i find custom turbo headers for the setup??

The 76's spool Quick. As for headers, you're either going to have to flip a pair of Ford Shorties like I did, or have them custom made.

Not exactly. The 88mm is still a MUCH bigger compressor wheel which = more mass and resistance (bigger fan blades).

I am looking toward a Borg Warner S480 w/ a 1.00a/r. That's an 80mm compressor. Been seeing alot of good things about these turbos. Should spool nicely and can make upwards of 1300hp.

Another turbo I'd like is a GT4508R. Just our of my price range right now.

you do not want a 88... Our motors don't get high enough into the RPMs to take advantage of that size turbo... I have a complete 76mm set up for sale in my signature, btw... Maybe its something he wants... Although shipping to you might suck... LOL... Let me know

.96a/r

We looking for 700-800rwhp on pump gas 93octane highway race truck... i guess .96 is the best choise to spool between 3800-4500rpm

BTW, am thinking of.... GT47-88 and GT42-76

My combo with a .81 a/r made 700rwhp/750 rwtq on 20#'s on pump gas... Put that .96 on it and you will pick up some more for sure.... Just a lil more lag too

Blasphemy!! LOL.

Jasem, you should look into 35th's turbo kit. It's complete and it'll make a lot of power for you.

Jasem, I would sell the kit with out the turbo too... a Precision ball bearing 88mm turbo would bolt right in its place with no upgrade at all... Just put it where my T76 was... I actually believe the two turbos you are looking at will too... Just compare them to a Precision T76gts when looking at bolt patters and such... I'll knock about a $1k off the price with no turbo and negotiate from there if you want it... My kit also alloys you to keep factory a/c and uses a 4" downpipe that doesn't go under a cross member

I'd also knock some more off the price if you don't want the exhaust behind the down pipe, since shipping on that would be more of an issue

the gt47 series turbos are a large frame turbo and a .96 ar on the large frame will spool slower than the same ar on a 42 series. These motors just do not have the cu. in to spool a large turbo like the gt4718 or an s480!! I'm telling you if you want a good spooling single do not go any bigger than an 76.. I promise you you will be very dissappointed in the results. There is no single turbo that is gonna spool like you want with the ability to make 700-800 Safely on pump gas.. I'm sorry but 20 psi on pump gas is Not safe! If your set on a turbo like the gt4780 or 88 or even the bw s480 I would get a bottle of the giggle gas just to have handy for spoiling issues. It's really not about rpm to take advantage of a large turbo it's about getting the exhaust velocity up quickly and these 2v heads just don't do that.. If you want something that spools "fast" and is going to give you the power you're looking for on pump gas then a pair of gt35r dual ball berring turbos are your choice.. My .02
