non lightning turbo help

Ok i need some help from some turbo guys here.

I have an 85 toyota pickup 4x4 that has a built, 2.7l stroker, mostly set up for rock crawling.

I recently installed a turbo using parts from the toyota pickup that came factory turbo, but the turbo itself is a t3 hybred, so that it uses all the factory piping and manifold to look stock. the turbo has a .60 a/r on the cool side and .48 a/r on the exhaust. my motor is 9.3:1 compression and i am limiting boost to <7psi.

Here is the issue, I have after turbo egt's nearly constantly over 1000*, I see 3+psi even while cruising, even get almost 2psi with a completly open wastegate.

I thought the issue was my cam, that is designed for toruqe and bottom end, so i retarted cam timing approx 10* it made it better but i still see too much boost and high egt's while only cruising.

would a fix to this be to switch to a bigger a/r on the hot side of the turbo?

Thanks in advance.

A bigger ar will help with cooling it down. Not sure why you are not seeing vac and only psi.

If you are seeing boost at cruise you either have too small of an AR on the exhaust side or a too small wastegate. Try running the wastegate to atmosphere instead of back into the exhaust. This will improve flow the wastegate and if that helps the EGTs and boost at cruise then the wastegate size or plumbing is the problem.

Also what size is the downpipe and exhaust?

DP is either 2.5 or 3", i cant vent the wastegate to atmosphere because its internal. the exhaust side is a .48 a/r so that might be the issue, anyone know where i can pickup another exhaust housing?
