Went to the 1/8 mile

Went to the local 1/8 mile track to test out the new converter and pump.

Previous best with a jacked up transmisson was
2.0 60ft (leaving on 3000rpm)
8.3@88

Today:
2.3 60ft (I really didn't play with the rpms)3000rpm
8.93@83
Here is what is different. About 80ft from the finish the truck would shift into overdrive, it never did that before. Not sure it is in the tune but that is what I am leaning towards. Or maybe the 28X10.5 16 tires.

I'm just a little disappointed in the performance. It runs like a raped ape on the street but not on the track.
Any ideas?

Its not coming out of the hole. I'm working on this problem with my turbo truck as well. My best 1/8th with the turbo has been mutiple 7.8's @93. Those have come with 2.XX 60fts. I have had 1 1.92 60ft. but the truck didn't run well after that. I will agree aso that my truck runs well on the street but not at the track at the moment.
I raced a slightly modded L at the track last week in the 1/4. He got my great out the hole but I reeled him it but I thought I was going to loose by the end of the quarter. I ran a 12.15 to his 13.05.

I hear ya about not coming out of the hole, but mine shifts in to overdrive with a lot of track left. My mph should be higher.

How much boost are you running?
What was your mph on that 12.15 run?

Mine has been consistantly trapping 119MPH. No matter how I launch it seems to run at 119 in the 1/4. I did get a run in that trapped 123 but I 60ft alot better on that run and ran a 11.61. Mine is currently tuned to 15psi and dynoed 593/645. I'm going to turn up the boost on AUG. 2 to 20psi and see what she will do.

ya you need to work on getting that thing off the line. My truck was consistantly doing 1.7x and runing 7.1s at 102-103. I did have a 3600 stall but that shouldn't make 6 tenths difference..

Definately got to leave harder, there there should be a link to the techinique for launching off of the ebrake a few threads down in here, that helps. Getting a turbo truck to come out hard is the biggest challenge, once you have that you can lay down some killer times.

I'm not sure how you are getting into OD at the 1/8th, I've always run with it turned off on the shifter. What gears do you have in the rear? On my 120mph run I just tickled a 5700 rpm limiter through the traps in 3rd. Thats with a 28" tire and 3.73s out back.

Yeah, kindof strange with the OD. I have the same setup as you and I also run with the button off. (not my first rodeo haha)
3.73, 28"
Maybe not enough boost? 12lbs

The 60ft is everything with these trucks.
Get the 60 ft down to 1.65 or less and do it consistantly and you'll be happy with the end results.
