Coupler Problem

First off I have 3" pipe coming from the intercooler to the throttle body. The throttle body is a BBK cobra oval. I ordered a 3" to 4.25" transition but it doesn't fit. It seems that I need another .25" to make it work. The problem is companies don't make a transition in that size to go to 3".

What are you guys using for a coupler? Are you guys running 3" pipe to the TB? Can I make the 4.25" work around the oval.....am I being a puss?

Race part solution say a stock cobra tb takes 4.25. It seems to small.

Skid, if you can measure and let me know you have a BBK cobra tb and it works that would be great. I'm thinking of sending it back for a 4" to 4.5" and calmping the shat out of it on the 3" side.

Just went out side with some string and measured the TB and got 14.4" diameter, then I divided by pie(3.14) which got me a ID for a coupler 4.585"
So I do need a 4.5"......right?????

Yep its a 4.5. a solution for you is to get the 4.5 coupler and then sleeve the piping side down.

Sorry, I not sure what you mean by sleeve the pipin down side.

For the 3" side?

I will have to get a 4" to 4.5"

get the 4.5 transition
the part that goes on the 3" pipe is too big, put a 3" coupler over your pipe then slide the transition on it. this will build up the pipe size you you dont have to shrink the coupler so much.

another option is to flair your pipe to match the coupler
