NAVI Head guys in here...

You think it would be better to port the navi heads on a 5.4 turbo setup? or should i just leave them alone...

i know they can get into the 325-350 cfm area ported...

Also...

I talked to sullivan and they said to do stock stainless intake valves and +2mm exhaust valves...

Anyone do this or what???

I know for sure i am doing valves and springs... stock cams for now also... but i am wondering about the porting... i think it would help out but on the 2v's some people have gained more power by stock heads...

my setup is a "itty bitty" turbo and alot of nitrous... intake flow wont be a issue...

oh...

well from what i know... the 2v heads really cant get over the 225-230 area real easy....

i think the MOST i ever saw a 2v flow was high 240's

which is alot for a 2v head and nothing for a 4v head...

i just dont want my truck to had INSANE heads and they not be beneficial to the truck... in other words...

not gain hp but lose it...

now if i can pick up 20-30rwhp then i am all for it...

i also talked to scott from former VT and he thinks they should be ported... esp for what i am trying to do... he also said i should do cams...

a custom grind.. and says i will pick up more then 20rwhp off them..

Al P told me to keep my 4V Navi heads stock, with stock cams. He only wanted me to bump the springs up (which I did). He said the stock heads/cams work great for Turbo setups.

i am thinking i will have the heads ported alittle bit...

mainly the exhaust port...

i know i want to do springs FOR SURE!!!

and i would like stock cams... i really cant justify 1100 for 20 hp... now if it was 60 HP then yeah.... but i really doubt it...

So the setup i am thinking is

NEW valves +2mm exhaust stock intake
Crower Springs
Stock cams
Port and polish the heads...

personally i don't think porting the exhaust side is going get you a whole lot. flow isn't a critical as velocity.. by making those ports bigger as well as bigger valves your only going to decrease velocity. I know your running nitrous so maybe this doesn’t apply to you as much. Also if you port the heads I cannot see how a good set of cams will not net you a LOT more than 20 hp up top.. and help spool some..

i guess it will all depends on funds when i do the heads...

the only reason for doing the exhaust side is because that is the weak point in the heads...

the port work will not be extreme.. just cleaning up the heads and gasket matching really...

these heads look pretty rough...
