| always bet on black | let's talk about wastegates... 1.) who has theirs venting to the atmosphere? how loud is it? 2.) i was thinking of going with twin jgs 40's, one right after each header on my build, with a 12" dump pipe on them, is that enough gate? i am using an 82mm turbo, with a large t6 turbine housing. probably run 15 psi street, 20+ at the track |

| Turbo Power | I have dual 38mm waste gates and they vent to the atmosphere. I don't think they are loud at all. Of course my truck is the only 1 I've heard in some time. Instead of running 2 gates why not 1 big gate.....like a 50mm. Rich

View this user's gallery iTrader: 2 / 100% | In my opinion, venting the wastegate to atmospere sounds like a terrible exhaust leak and sounds like total crap. It is so smooth sounding when you plumb it back into the D.P. I found this out when I added a 2nd gate(boost creep) and didn't have the time or parts on hand to runthe 2nd one into the exhaust. As soon as I drove it, It made the entire truck seem like a pile of turd. This aweful sound starts as soon as the gate starts to crack open which is before full boost unless your running an electronic wastegate controller. If you don't want to plumb it back into the downpipe, there are companies out there making wastegate mufflers now.( or you could make your own by using tractor mufflers or similar.) Just my 2 cents, Paul |

View this user's gallery iTrader: 12 / 100% | Running mufflers on your wastegates , wouldnt that cause a restriction where you most of all dont want it? Oh and just running an electronic controller wont keep the wg from cracking open either. Especially if its run off a manifold reference. C02 is needed to do that. |

| always bet on black | i'm going with jgs gates, will twin 50's be too much? what would be problems with too big wastegates? i like the v-band flange connection on the 50's over the flange on the 40's also... fyi, i plan to run 15-20 psi on the steet, 20-25 at the track
