| I'm a Fool for Spool. Paid Member | Turbo Guys: How's your mileage? I know all of you have different setups, with different injectors setups, but I was wondering if you've actually noticed an increase or decrease in mileage. I'm just your normal 6# lower, stock block guy, and I see 11-12 in town and a MAX of 15 on the highway. I'm a previous turbo-truck owner (see my name), and I'm hellbent on going turbo when I do finally grenade this block. Have any of you made some decent hauls on your Turbo L and checked the mileage? I don't care if it's 1 more MPG. The fact that they make that much more power makes ANY increase in my mind a killer "plus" to go turbo. Can you tell I'm trying to justify this project? ![]() Thanks! |

| New setup to come...Again Paid Member | I drove my truck from WI to NJ about a 950 one way trip and saw an average milage of just below 20 that is at 70-80MPH all the way. I would say 14 to 16 on around town milage but like Agent 00 L states it's hard to stay out of the boost not just for the power but for that awesome turbo music also. |

Bro, 14-16 in town and almost 20 on the highway would be a night a day difference for me. even 3 more mpg with my driving pattern would be 75 miles more per tank, which at my current fuel economy is 6 gallons = 15.00 saving per filluo, and I fillup once a week, so 60 bux a month savings = 720 bux a year for MORE power. Oh, I'm so talking myself into this ![]() | |

| 1.37 60' on Drag Radials | I checked the mileage with mine once and I NEVER got into boost for whatever that distance was. I couldnt believe it but it was 22mpg. I was only driving about 65 on the interstate though and any grades I just let it slow down. I was driving like a grandpa. haha So those results would not be typical unless you could be very self-disciplined. That was the only time that happened for me! | Registered User | keep in mind that frank's motor was an anomally, never to be duplicated. i get worse mileage now with the turbo than i've ever did with the s/c, but wait, i think its because i CANNOT drive like a sane person anymore! it is virtually impossible for me to keep my foot out of the throttle so i don't even bother to keep tabs on mileage anymore. if you decide to go turbo, just know that you cannot factor gas mileage inot your decision. the fun factor will outweigh everything else |

View this user's gallery iTrader: 12 / 100% | Well I averaged 18+ mpg after purchasing my truck in AR then driving it to FL. I believe power was right around 700 when I bought it. Yeah gas mileage isnt important but it is nice to be able to cruise around without having to stop and fill up all the time. When you drive around like a fool everywhere tires become more expensive than gas......... ![]() |
