| Moderator Paid Member | March 2008 Gen1 TOTM – Congratulations Greg "Tinysred94L" Arnold ! (NLOC #2247) March 2008 Gen 1 Truck Of The Month – Congratulations Greg “Tiny” (TinysRed94L) Arnold ! (NLOC #2247) This month the TOTM resides in Tennessee. A 1994 model in the one-year only color of Crimson Red, Tiny’s truck has that “grab ya” factor ! This truck will make you turn your head to get another look. The lowered stance and chrome wheels create a Lightning that won’t let you walk by. Additionally, details abound on this one from the diamond clear headlights and park/turn lights to the exhaust tips and rolled pan out back. Tiny has recently completed his “winter projects” for his truck adding more go to his show ! Read on to learn more about Tiny, his Lightning, and his passion for these trucks. 1. What sparked your interest in the Ford Lightning? I have been a die hard Ford man for along time and when Ford answered Chevys 454 SS with this truck and became the fastest production truck, beating out Chevys 454 big block with a small block 351W, it just tickled me to death and I knew that one day I would have to have one. I liked the way Ford and SVT put together a hot but usable truck. 2. Do you have any interesting stories about previously owned vehicles, before becoming a Lightning owner ? My first real performance vehicle was a ‘72 Ford truck with a 390 4 barrel and the first day that I drove it to school I wanted to dust this rich guy who had a big block in a ‘76 Trans Am so bad. Well after school I saw him leaving the mini mart, so naturally I jumped behind him. He hit it just enough to bark his tires and I just couldn't resist stomping mine and just white smoking the tires. When the smoke cleared there was a county cop behind me and he was not happy. He pointed to the parking lot screaming pull over, so I was a young cocky guy and hit it again and got sideways across the parking lot, (I figured I would just pay the ticket, I was working and Mom and Dad would never know) yeah you guessed it, he was then real unhappy with me. He gave me a ticket for 2 counts of laying drag and if that wasn't enough he wanted my Dad to give him a call. It sure took the cocky out of my sail because I couldn't just pay the ticket but had to get my folks involved. Dad took my truck for awhile and would go out and fire it up for me to hear almost every night. I did eventually get the chance to beat the rich kid; he was pretty embarrassed getting beat by a full sized pickup truck. 3. What modifications have you made to your truck since you have owned it...both show and go? Well I started with Chrome stock wheels and then I haven’t stopped since. I put a 3-4 Belltech I-beam kit with Bilstein shocks, Toyo tires, Flex-a-lite 295 Dual Electric fans, underdrive pulleys, an upside down BBK Mustang cold air kit with a K&N filter. 5.0 HO roller conversion with Crane Cobra 1.7 roller rockers, a 1" intake spacer, Ford Racing Chrome valve covers, a Bedrug, Lund rollpan, Mac 1 3/4 long tube headers, custom side exit exhaust with 40 series Flowmasters, Flowmonster cats, and SLP stainless tips, MSD billet distributor and blaster coil, Ford Racing wires, 130 amp polished alternator, clear headlights and corner lights, Hella driving fog lights, and lots of wax. 4. Do you have any interesting stories about your Lightning ? I bought my truck from a guy who had a 1 in the VIN # where it was supposed to be an I so he got tired of trying to sell it and everyone was doubting that it was a real Lightning. Luckily it sat for long enough for me to get the funds together, I took it down and penciled the VIN and now have a build # and all of the SVT paperwork. ![]() 5. Tell us about yourself, your hobbies, business or work, sports, family, etc. I am 38 and a copier salesman at Nashville Office Machines, a family business that my wife’s Grandfather started in 1934. I have a 6-year-old son and a 19-year-old daughter, I spend most of my time with my family, and we have 7 acres and a log house in the country. I was lucky and was brought up in a great family who believed family was #1 and I feel the same way. I enjoy buying and selling on E-bay as a hobby; I sell a lot of parts, hotrods and racecars on consignment here locally. I coach my sons baseball team & spend any other free time at our local drag strip in my 88 Mustang GT, the track is only 6 miles from my house so I just drive it up there, I’m hoping for mid 6's this season. 6. How long have you been a user of the NLOC.net, when did you become an NLOC member, and why did you choose to become a member of NLOC ? I found NLOC browsing the net looking for more information on my new toy, right after I bought it in October of 2006. It didn't take much reading to realize the knowledge I needed and the type of people that I wanted to be associated with was all right here. I joined pretty quickly on 11-03-2006 and have thoroughly enjoyed the knowledge and the friendships that have been made here. Tiny’s family: left to right, wife Linda, son Gregory, Tiny hisself, and daughter Sarah 7. What suggestions do you have to make the NLOC.net website easier to use and navigate? It ain’t broke so please don't try to fix it. I’m not big on change. 8. Why did you choose your board user name (screen name) ? I chose TinysRed94L because I am 6'1” and 280 so Tiny is my nickname and I just added the Red94L because that's my truck ![]() 9. What are your plans for future changes to your truck ? By the time you read this, I will have this finished, as I am in the process right now of putting Victor Jr 77189 aluminum heads, an extreme energy Comp cam XE274HR-12, 1.6 roller rockers, a FRPP mass air conversion, Gen 2 Lightning mass air meter, 30# Ford Racing injectors, rebuilding my track loc, Ford Racing girdle, LFP 58"long traction bars, and a Circle D stage III 2800 converter. For the future, I plan on adding about 10 pounds of Vortech along with a low compression stroker shortblock. ![]() 10. Whom would you like to thank for help\donations\support for putting the truck together ? As always I want to thank God for his many blessings, as that's where all of our blessings come from. I would like to thank my loving Wife Linda and my kids Gregory and Sarah for understanding my addiction and for loving me anyway. I want to thank my Mom and Dad for always believing in me no matter what I put them through, and for raising me to always put family first. I would like to thank everyone on here who has done their homework and has such great knowledge of these trucks & the guys who answer all of my silly questions. I would also like to thank James Bottom for his help on anything and everything and for being such a great Christian friend. I would also like to thank Dan at FastLane Performance for all of his help in putting this all together and a special thanks to Greg at Speedydyno for the great tune. Thanks NLOC for making me a TOTM it's a great honor with all of the great looking trucks on here. ![]() Tiny with his Dad Ralph at Fun Ford Weekend Atlanta 2006 Congratulations to Greg “Tiny” Arnold and his 1994 Red Ford Lightning for Gen 1 Truck of the Month, March 2008! |
