| Moderator Paid Member | April 2007 Gen 2 TOTM - Congratulations to Dave "Dave London" London ! (NLOC #2070) April 2007 Gen 2 Truck Of The Month – Congratulations Dave "Dave London" London ! (NLOC #2070) The truck selected for April TOTM is a 2000 model out of New Jersey ! Dave’s truck is not a “race only” truck and it does see street duty, but as he said, “it’s NOT a daily driver” ! Certainly not with a 9 second truck ! Dave was one of eight trucks that showed up for Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords quickest and fastest street legal Lightning shootout in August of last year. Dave finished number 1 ! Additionally, Ford Performance Trucks figured his Lightning should grace their pages as well which resulted in a feature in the Fall 2006 issue. NLOC managed to divert Dave from his wrench turning long enough to provide some pictures and answer our questions. Have a look see… 1. What sparked your interest in the Ford Lightning? I always was a Mustang guy but need a truck for work. With the Lightning I think you can have the best of both. 2. Do you have any interesting stories about previously owned vehicles, before becoming a Lightning owner? In 1989 I picked up a Mustang GT, the next thing I knew it had plenty of mods and with a small shot it was a low 11 second car ! I thought it was the king of the street until one night in Toms River this guy calls me out for a race. Lets just say he is now known as "BigDaddy" and I learned a lesson ! ![]() 3. What modifications have you made to your truck since you have owned it...both show and go? Over the years my truck has had almost every mod out there. With lots of time and money in just trying to stay competitive I never had a chance to worry about to much bling. With lots of trial and error and a ton of help from JLP it was at it's best in 2006. For the most part I run a JLP motor with a 2.3 KB and a RaceTested direct port shot of juice. My best E/T to date is 9.81@139mph. ![]() 4. Do you have any interesting stories about your Lightning? The only thing that comes to mind is that I really must have a passion for these trucks. I now own three, this one, a red 99 roller that I’m building with left over parts and a black '95 with long term plans of 8's. ![]() 5. Tell us about yourself, your hobbies, business or work, sports, family, etc. I have always been a car guy, picked that up from my dad, along with my trade, as we are both carpenters. I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports, motorcycles, jet skis, and racing. I have 3 dogs and a great girl that not only puts up with my Lightning habits but supports me as well. Did I say she owns a blown Vortech S-trim '88 Mustang GT ? ![]() 6. How long have you been a user of the NLOC.net, when did you become an NLOC member, and why did you choose to become a member of NLOC? I'm not that much of a computer guy but have been surfing this site a long time. I made a promise that when I ran 10's I would join and post it up on the famous NLOC- E/T list. ![]() 7. What suggestions do you have to make the NLOC.net website easier to use and navigate? Please do not change anything, I finally know my way around and think it's great as is ! ![]() 8. Why did you pick your board user name (screen name)? I must be one of the worst with people's names. When you go to an L race, meet a bunch of guys that don't use there screen names, well you get the point. ![]() 9. What are your plans for future changes to your truck? In 2007 I plan to step it up with a 2.6 KB, with a few supporting mods. I’m always looking to get some weight out, also have been thinking 4-link. ![]() 10. Whom would you like to thank for help\donations\support for putting the truck together? I have to thank my other half Billiejo and my entire family. I also want to thank everyone in our DelValLO club. Those guys make it a lot more fun. I would like to thank Jim @ Kenne Bell, Denny @ RaceTested, and a huge thanks to Johnny and Sue and everyone at JLP. I never could have done it with out Johnny Lightning Performance !!! ![]() Congratulations to Dave London and his red Ford Lightning for Gen 2 Truck of the Month, April 2007 ! |
