| Will Work For Truck Parts Paid Member | January 2007 Gen 2 TOTM - Congratulations to Bruce "Brucewrs" Wickers (NLOC#2060) January 2007 Gen 2 Truck Of The Month - Congratulations to Bruce (Brucewrs) Wickers (NLOC #2060) This month the Gen 2 TOTM is a red 2003 beauty! This truck is super clean! Take time to meet Bruce who is a moderator for FLOC (Florida Lightning Owners Club) that just started up recently and to check out his beautiful truck. Bruce is definitely a stand up guy on this board. He puts a lot of hard work into organizing events for the Florida Lightnings and moderating the FLOC section as well as helping others on this board. ![]() 1. What sparked your interest in the Ford Lightning? I never knew how fast they were until I seen one take off from a light. It was unbelievable how fast it took off. At that point I told myself I have to get one. After doing some research I decided to go and buy a new one from the dealership. Now I have a fast, but yet practical vehicle. When I moved to Florida I had my motorcycle in the bed of my truck while pulling my 1969 mustang all 4 wheels off the ground car trailer. Try and do that with a sports car..... 2. Do you have any interesting stories about previously owned vehicles, before becoming a Lightning owner? Well the only story I have is when I bought a modded Camaro from a dealership that had nothing but problems. Then the dealership would not honor the warranty because of the mods. I told them I bought it that way. Long story short, make sure if you buy a used vehicle and if any mods were done, get it in writing. ![]() 3. What modifications have you made to your truck since you have owned it...both show and go? I bought my 2003 Lightning new as a left over in January 2004. I lived in NY at the time and drove it off the lot with 6 inches of snow on the ground. That was pretty scary. This list might be a little long, here it goes….... Do you have any interesting stories about your Lightning? The best story I have is one day I was driving the Lightning and came to a stop light when a AMG55 Mercedes pulled up next to me. He started to rev his engine a bit so I was thinking I am going to get killed. As soon as the light changed it was on. I jumped out a truck length ahead and kept that lead until I shut down around 90mph. He pulled up to me and asked if my truck was stock. I told him no and he stated thank God. He was cool about it. Nothing like getting beat by a pick up truck after spending over 100 grand on a car….LOL 5. Tell us about yourself, your hobbies, business or work, sports, family, etc. I am 36 years old and married with two children. I am a retired NYPD police officer. I worked in the worst part of Bklyn and Queens. I had to retire after only 13 years because I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I am doing good with MS, but have no feeling in my finger tips. The worst is the fatigue and the shots I get every other day. So after I retired I sold my house and moved down to Florida. My wife is a 1st grade teacher and I am Mr. Mom for now. I would like to get a part time job(mod money). I have a passion for cars. I built a 1969 mustang from scratch. When I bought it was green with honey gold interior. I stripped the paint off the entire car and had some one spray it. I wanted to make sure the body was perfect. It had a 302 but after I was done with it, it now has a 347 stroker motor. With a LOT of mods…Here is a picture of it. ![]() 6. How long have you been a user of the NLOC.net and when did you become an NLOC member, and why did you choose to become a member of NLOC? I have been on this board since Jan 2004, but I only have been a member for a year. I love it here. There is no way I would have done all the mods that I did to my truck with out this board. There are soooooo many knowledgeable people on here. Plus you get a “T” shirt when you become a member. lol. I am now a moderator on FLOC. Great group of guys and gals over there. The last meet that CaptMorg (Wes) arranged was excellent. We had a huge turn out. There is another meet in Old Town coming up and a track day at Bradenton. So come check us out over at FLOC... 7. What suggestions do you have to make the NLOC.net website easier to use and navigate? I can not think of anything to make it easier. I think it is perfect as it is. I agree with Matt on having a 30 day waiting period for new members selling things. But for the most part BigD and the moderators keep everyone in check. ![]() 8. Why did you choose your board user name (screen name)? When I did my screen name I had no clue what I was doing LOL. Basically Bruce is my first name and wrs is an abbreviation of my last name. I would change it, but everyone on here knows me by that. Plus at meets everyone knows my first name lol. 9. What are your plans for future changes to your truck? Torque converter is top of the list. Maybe if I run into a ton of money I will get a JDM or JLP long block. Then I will lose the toneau cover and get a nice fitting roll bar. It is great to dream... Maybe one day... 10. Whom would you like to thank for help\donations\support for putting the truck together? Wow this is a tough question. I feel like I am on stage getting an academy award. My mind is blank. I have to thank all of you. There is NO way I could have done it with out all of your support. Anytime I needed help I just posted on here and within minutes had an answer. I also have to thank Leach (Fred) for the Teem Breed valve covers. He is a gentleman. I cannot believe my wife has not left me yet, so I will also have to thank her for putting up with me and my hobby. ![]() Congratulations to Bruce Wickers and his 2003 Red Ford Lightning for Gen 2 Truck of the Month, January 2007! |
