| Supporting Vendor Paid Member | August 2006 Gen 1 TOTM - Congratulations to Matt “fordfreak95” Andrade! (NLOC #952) ...August 2006 Gen 1 Truck Of The Month – Congratulations Matt “fordfreak95” Andrade! (NLOC #952) Matt Andrade has one of the cleanest Gen 1’s around! His attention to detail can’t be missed and made his truck an easy choice for the August Truck of the Month! What sparked your interest in the Ford Lightning? The 454ss Chevy to be honest. My best friend Eddy that I grew up with had an older cousin Louey that took us out with him cruising all the time. He had a 91 black 454ss. The truck was nice. He bought it new and modified it a little bit. What he did I have no idea because it was in 1993 and I was 18 and didn't pay attention to anything he used to say. LOL!! Well, Louey's buddy bought a black SVT Lightning truck. I had a 1983 Mustang GLX Convertible Saleen clone at the time that I bought modified. The 454ss truck could not beat me in my 83. The black 93 Lightning had some stuff done to it and could wipe me off the street. The thing I remember is watching the black 93 Lightning and the black 454ss race on a back street one night. It was awesome!! Fast trucks........I liked it. The 93 Lightning won pretty easily. The sound was something that burned in my head...........Fast forward to Feb.1999 when I bought one.....Yippee.......I have never raced a 454ss yet though. I would LOVE to though. One that is NOT stock! Do you have any interesting stories about previously owned vehicles, before becoming a Lightning owner? I had a few Mustangs. My last one was my favorite. I was in a rough time and all I could afford was a BEAT faded black 85 GT convertible. The rough spell ended and I went through the entire car. Motor rebuild, AOD to T-5 transmission swap, 3.73:1 gears, paint, new top, 1990 GT seats...etc... Poor car......I got into an accident when a guy ran a stop sign at a bad intersection. The car got fixed up nice, but 3 months later I got hit again in the SAME exact spot that I had gotten hit the last time. It was the same intersection. I was even going the same direction. Another guy ran the same stop sign. I even hit the same curb when the car swung around. I had to sell the car after this last accident. I fixed it up nice but it had frame damage. For the record I have never gone through that intersection since that day. My truck will NEVER see that intersection!!!! EVER!!!! What modifications have you made to your truck since you have owned it...both show and go? Go modifications.......Performance works 393ci long rod (6.200") stroker with ported Trick Flow heads, Trick Flow 351w EFI R series intake, and Comp Cams xe282hr roller, *THUMPIN* cam it has 10.xx:1 compression. Mass air'd set up with the FMS mass air conversion. 90mm MAF ...I tune it with a TwEECer and the LM-1. And lot's of TIME!! Full Pickrel exhaust...Magnaflow style. I have custom made stainless rectangle tips though. The transmission has a new front pump that I modified per PI instructions. Big aluminum transmission pan. Big coolers. PI 9.5" 2800rpm stall speed lock up converter. And a Level 10 shift kit. Rear is stock with 98k on it. Just a stud gridle with Amsoil fluids and that's it. Traction used to be Rancho bars but they left and now I have a "Mysterious Hillbilly" traction device. Show pretty modifications..... Belltech drop...I beams, hangers, shackles, shocks and a custom set of end links that AlexR made me for the front sway bar. Carriage Works front grill insert. Was NOT easy to do this!!! AT ALL!!!! Stock rims painted 95 factory YZ white and cleared. Running Nitto 275/50/17 Extreme performance tires. Painted mirrors, door handles and tail gate handle. Downs roll pan...flush mount LeBra bed cover...and a bedrug. All my gauges look nice but have a function too so??? All new carpeting in the darker 93 color. Custom Chickenears floor mats. That is about it I guess??? Tell us about yourself, your hobbies, business or work, sports, family, etc. Myself - I am 30 and work in a production factory as a lead man. I love the crap out of my wife Lisa and my dog Peanut. I spend all my time with either my wife, the dog, work or my truck. Hobbies - I have reptiles - pictures are in my gallery. I'm a fan of Jack Daniel's (in moderation of course!) and I like to work on the truck more than I drive it. Sports - I like football. I’m a Patriots fan. Semi Boston Red Sox fan. Baseball is real boring to watch. I do not play sports. Family - well, I have one headache sister Missy, but I love her to death. I will have a niece soon. My side of the family is not close. I spend a lot of time with my Mom, Dad and sister but other than that I’m not too close with the cousins, Grandparents etc. Now my wife's family is great. It is big, real big, and real close. I got something I needed when I met my wife. I got a cool wife, a big family that likes me, and my dog - my little buddy Peanut. He is a Puggle...1/2 Beagle and 1/2 pug....bred that way on purpose.......my dog is family too. LOL!! He sleeps in bed with me and Lisa. How long have you been a user of the NLOC.net and when did you become an NLOC member? I have been here since 99 and a member for maybe 4-5 years. NLOC#952 What suggestions do you have to make the NLOC.net website easier to use and navigate? None.......I liked it before and I like it now. Change is good on the eyes. Matt, Lisa, and Peanut What are your plans for future changes to your truck? Different Mass air set up using the Mustang tried and true A9L with a stand alone transmission controller. I was going to go 5 speed but decided not to because I like the lazy man automatic. I would like new rims of some kind, but I have no idea right now so I keep the factory whites looking their best. I can not stand the YoYo rapper 20" rim thing right now. Some are nice but most are ..........ah. Maybe WAY into the future I’ll get a paint job, but nothing fancy. That is it. I have it how I want it. This is where you link favorite websites, your website, family pictures and add any other comments. Ah...not much to put here. Big Thanks to Philip Joyal (Philip) for putting up with me and all my emails, phone calls and questions. Also for guiding me through EVERY THING I HAVE done since the motor, an unbelievable person. Ed (Struckby) LOL!! Ah, Ed and I like to spend each others money and shoot the crap. Ed helps me out a lot and I TRY to help him out. It's more of him helping me. Ed taught me to solder big wire!! Danny (LightningDan). Thanks for telling me my truck was not a POS. Meeting you was fun and kind of sparked my interest in the L this summer. Mike, thanks for buying a lot of my take off parts then selling your dang truck for a CHEVY. It's OK he has a Gen.2 now. Mike (LightningWolf) thanks for making fun of me and trying to get me to stop changing things and just drive the truck. I am not doing to well with that right now. By the way, Mike also runs my old stock motor. John O (run351) for basically showing me a fast N/A Gen.1 and being the first guy I met and talked to from here. Also The Mysterious Hillbilly for helping my wheel hop stay away after me and the Rancho bars got divorced.....and a few others I am forgetting I am sure. Sorry. I would also like to thank the NLOC supporting vendors! I always check what is available through the supporting vendors before I look elsewhere for parts! |

| Namasté Paid Member | Matt it was an honor seeing your truck, believe it or not but the first truck I saw when I came on this forum was yours, and when I found out how close we lived I knew I had to see it in person 1 day. Guys the pictures can not describe the detail matt has into this truck, I must have spent...2-3 hours looking at everything. Matt has a great talent for making the engine bay look smooth. Allot of stuff hes done is his own, well basically EVERYTHING hes done to the truck is his own custom design. Im sitting here trying to describe the truck and you just cant, you have to see it When I saw that thing roll down his drive way, it was just un-real, the sound, the speed. Matt constantly asking me "Danny, is it fast?" when we are traveling with the needle barried lol thats another thing, what a hell of a driver, he has control of the truck with ease, kick's the @$$ end out, re corrects it...Matt your a great guy I got stuck one day when claying my heads, called matt up and he stopped what ever he was doing, and walked me right threw everything. h3ll of a guy! as for peanut, hes smiling in that picture now but, DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT CROSS HIM! Peanut means buisness!!! He gaurds that Lightning with no breaks! Nice meeting you matt, congratulations for truck of the month! Danny |

| Electric Edward | ROCK ON MATT!!................... Matt your truck is awesome buddy!! absolutely one of the cleanest and most professionally modded Lightnings on the Eastern seaboard if not the whole US!! Every project Matt does has been extensively researched before he installs it on his truck, and Matt has been nice enough to share some of that info and ideas with me. Matt was one of the first people I met here on NLOC and it been great knowing him, maybe one day we'll meet. All that hard work had paid off Matt. Congratulations again and enjoy the fruit of all your efforts. EE |

| Registered User | Wow......Thanks guys. I am still stunned I was picked. I have never drag raced but Chip said that a race truck wasn't a requirement. I have the truck running real well right now actually. After the big comp cams roller and TFS intake swap this early spring the truck was very mad at me. Stalling and surging. And just not running correctly. I kept forgetting just how different this cam and intake combo was/is than my GT-40 TFS #2 combo was. It is people on this board that told me to keep my cool and remember I have made a change and need to TUNE!! Philip was the first one to tell me this before I even did the swap but...........some times my mind wanders looking for problems that are not even there!! Truck is fun again. I like it "turn key and go streatable" ......it is 95% there. And that is not simple with the vacuum I pull at idle. I still get a hot start LIGHT surge but it is only when my engine temps are over 160*. I have narrowed that down. Sstock......I can not imagine myself with out a dog. I was not 100% on it at all when my wife wanted Peanut because Puppies are a lot of work. I have had dogs ever since I was about 11 years old. 2 German Sheperds, 1 Dalmatian, 1 Beagle and 1 mini pin. Not all at the same time! Peanut is **MY** first dog since I moved out of my parents 6-7 years ago. It's great. I have no children yet so..........dogs are good practice. This guy being 1/2 pug he LOVES to cuddle up. Then being 1/2 beagle.......well....he is ALWAYS into something........he has TONS of energy and his nose is always going 100mph. I will throw up a few more PICs later on. Dan.......Peanut was just saying "Hi" man. He is not that bad. Just loud. I mean come on...he is only 34 pounds. LOL!!! I am glad you gave me the "Ya it's quick" seal. I have no idea. I just base it on the back road races. Maybe before NE dragway closes you and I will run it down the 1320??? I have never done it so..........I probably would look like a dope the first time down. Ed buddy! Well...........I have no wheel hop and no Rancho bars. Thank M.H. for me man!! I had to do some serious modifying of the shocks but........they are on with all Grade 8 hardware and new red poly bushings. Looks pretty slick too. It all started with your old blue Ford Motorsport under drive pulleys and that Magic Autologics chip Ed!!! Man..........that was a while ago. That chip RULED as far as tranny functions went!! Oh my GOD!!! I have yet to duplicate the feal it had. Thanks to every one for all the compliments and replies!!! |
