Post First track runs with the Vortech.

My father and I took his 94 Lightning to Rockingham Dragway today. First time we've got to the track since installing the vortech,1.7 rockers, and the level 10 shift kit. The track was in pitiful conditions being the first t-n-t of the season. Definitly have to get some slicks next time too! Those goodyear gt II's dont cut it
Here's the timeslip,#2159 in the left lane:

Ran it with a few gallons of sunoco gt unleaded and the retard set at three-fourths degree retard per lb of boost. Overall we were happy with the results! Only bad thing is now his 94 L is kicking my 99's tail, hehe.

Wow, Billy thats awesome! That race gas works good. I had a friend today who put some in and he ran 103 and 105 MPH, slow E.T.s though, couldn't hook. I ran 93 octane and could only get 102 MPH. Thats a great time. Tell your dad Congrats!

Hey my timeslip read Feb. 5th also!

Thanks Laurence We're gonna steal the 28X10.5's off my coupe and put them on some wheels for the Lightning next time. If we can get that 2.18 60ft down to even a 1.85 or so it would be really close to the 12's! (if the weather is good)
I think its a conspiracy to confuse us racers with the wrong date on the slips,LOL...

CarolinaLightning- Man that totally kicks ***! What other mods have been done to the truck other than the blower and RR. I have a similar set-up and am wondering what to expect E.T. wise!

Thanks

What Vortech and how much boost? Only exhaust and a shift kit also? I have really got to start saving for a supercharger! Low 13s with only a supercharger. That's awesome! Do you have a custom chip?

Dan,
Just has the mods above. No custom chip yet. The vortech is the standard Lightning s-trim kit thats SUPPOSE to make 5-6psi but seems to make 7-8psi on most guys trucks.

Wink

CarolinaLightning- Thats about what I have done with the exception that I have Shorty equal length Bassanni's with the matching X-pipe! Got the Ranchos on order and I don't have the RR. Oh, I have a pair of Flex-a-Lite 12" electric fans!

I think that the truck can at least do 13.5 with no problem...with a little babying on the bottom end of course!!!

!!! !!!12's HERE WE COME!!! !!!

Erik,
Sunoco GT unleaded is 100 octane using the (R+M)/2 method of rating. Ran 3-4 gallons of it mixed in with some(but not much, maybe a couple gallons) 93 pump gas in the tank.
I know Sunoco also makes a GT unleaded plus thats 104 octane.

Carolina!! where did you get the Mandrel bent intake tube for your truck. I wasted $20 bucks at midas. They made one out of 3" exhaust and it was TOO heavy sitting on the back porch now> I have one of those pesky Vortech SQ and would love to get a pipe like yours. E-Mail me at MrVFR@aol.com
