Post Level 10 Stall Converter

Just got out to the track with Level 10 converter for the first time. My 60' times improved to 1.816 on Goodyear Eagle GTIIs, but my 1/4 time only improved by 1/2 tenth and I lost 5 MPH. Is that normal to lose that much power on the top end with the converter? Judging by the short times, I don't think the problem is with the launch. What RPM should I leave the line at? I didn't expect to lose 5MPH. I did have a set of slicks and a jack in the bed, but I didn't think it'd slow me down that much. Here's the numbers:
R/T .542
60' 1.816
330 5.348
1/8 8.371
MPH 80.02
990 10.978
1/4 13.350
MPH 97.77

Another good point, its the first time I got consistent .5-- lights. There is hope for the driver, hehe!

Thumbs up

Damm... LW nice 60 ft for GT2s!!! That might be a new record? LOL! As for the MPH loss, Do you have a converter lockup switch hooked up? The truck didn't shift into OD before the finish did it? When I did my converter I went from 13.1 @ 106 to 12.7 @ 104 just to give you some idea... That was with the converter unlocked BTW.

Dave,
Yeah I was surprised I hooked up so well. I wanted to run slicks, but my friends Universal bolt pattern wheels didn't work. I do not have a lockup switch yet, Haven't got a chance to do that yet, it's pin 53 right? I had the Overdrive off so it didn't shift. I made two runs one at 97.77MPH and 98.08MPH. I expected to lose some, but not that much. Maybe the weight in the back killed it at the end, although sometimes it does seem to take along time to shift into 3. I think a new shift kit is in order cause I can't feel any shifts. Thanks for the help!
