Post Performance Engine Shop in Texas?????

Does anyone know of a place nearby that works on/builds Lightnings? I have a radical project in mind, but JDM in New Jersey is a long drive.

Logan told me there was a good shop in Plano. It is called Competition Machine.
Call information to get a number and see what they have to say.

There are no shops in N. Texas that have a better rep with modular engines than Lone Star.

That said, I've had 3 engines in my Cobra and the stock engine lasted longest.

The only thing I've seen out of Competition Machine were poor balance jobs and prep that was not up to high school shop standards. If they can't do a Windsor properly, imagine what they would do to a modular.

I know several 10 second motors that came out of there that do the job just fine?

Are you just talkin' smack or do you actually have some first hand experience with them? None of this "my buddy knows a guy who knows a guy who blew his bottom end out". You know people who've had problems with Comp Machine? Please, enlighten me, I have a windsor in need of some work.

No problems with Lone Star, I've seen some great cars runnin' their motors too, but I can get a better deal at Comp Machine and they'll R & R the engine on my Cougar for free.

Not tryin' to stir the pot, just have a vested interest in their work if I'm going to spend any time there. When I spoke with them on recommendation from my buddy with his big block 514, they seemed very straight up and were more than willing to back up their work.

Well, the internet makes it kinda difficult to judge tone doesn't it.

I'm too old to talk smack, so I'll relate the experience of helping a friend replace an oil galley plug on a fresh engine from CM. We did it in the pits at Topeka.

I'll also relate the experience of helping remove another for balance problems, twice. And it still is not right.

I assumed the original question was about modular engines. They are a little different and I don't think Mikey has any 10 second modular engines running anywhere.

If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me.

BTW, here is the email addy of someone who builds reliable engines right, the first time. racer7088@aol.com He is in Houston.

Hey, that's Erik Koenig's email addy...I know him from A&M... Erik does very good work, I have seen the results of his motors. His machine shop is still being built and I have a set of LS1 heads just waiting for him. He lives in Houston though... John Scheirer and Mike Sen Roy of Houston Performance know Erik very well - that's definitely a very knowledgeable, experienced, reputable group of people.
I'm very anal about my vehicles, but I'd give them one to work on/build in a heartbeat... so that's who I'd recommend also.

Me too. Erik and I agree on nothing except his anality (is that a word) on prep and solid science behind engine building.

I need a 351 stroker for the OTC car and I want him to build it.

Happy Motoring and apologies if any feathers are ruffled.
