Thumbs up Newbie - WS6 Owner in Ft Worth

Hey guys,

Looks like a great site here. I just wanted to introduce myself real quick...

My name is Hank and I live in Ft Worth. I sold my 94 Z28 in October and bought my 2002 WS6. I also have a 2000 Z71 that my wife drives (I tried to talk her into a Lightning, but she wanted a truck that sits high). Oh well...I still think they're pimp as hell...

How many DFW guys post here actively? I don't see too mnay L's around...so I've yet to run against one. Maybe I can meet up with somebody that's relatively stock (I've got air intake and cutout) to get a couple runs in and shoot the $hit. Email me at hankdanford@hotmail.com if you'd like...see sig for pics of car/truck, dyno sheet, webpage...

Later guys,
Hank

Cool

OK, so you're running roughly 15rwhp less than a stock Lightning and weigh 1000 pounds less.

You are more than welcome to show up at any of our meetings/events, but don't expect to pick and choose who you get to run. That would be like attending our family reunion and only wanting to fight the women and children. A word of warning; I have a sister that can kick my *****.

I wasn't necessaryily wanting to "pick" anybody out...I just happen to be a fan of everything fast. I like F-bodies, Vette's, Stangs, L's, etc. I'd drive the wheels off of a Lightning, but it's just not the right vehicle for me (we already have a truck)...

Don't stock 01 L's run mid-13's or so? Fastest I've seen on this site was 13.3x@102 (or something like that) I was assuming they'd be a good run, especially from a standing start...I have hell getting off the line...

I haven't run the 1/4 yet, but I made a few passes at Kennedale. Pathetically, my best was 9.10@81.x w/a 2.29 60' Can you say bog? That was with 1500 miles on the car There were a few L's there that night and they were running anywhere from 8.7's to low 9's. I need that 2nd 1/8th of a mile

I'm not here to talk $hit...I just like to learn as much as possible about all the other cars on the road...

Like Sis, er I mean Six said, you're welcome to join us for any of the events, gatherings, or racing. Although we do make occasional trips to Kennedale, we generally prefer that second 1/8th also. Yes, a stock '01 will run mid 13's, but I don't think we have anyone in TALON that's still bone stock. Several of the guys are running deep into the 12's (Sixpipes, Silver_2000, Justin B, and Autothrottle are all consistent 12.5 to 12.7, no bottle). So come on out to some of the meetings, get to know the folks, and we'll make a pilgrimage to the track when they open up in the spring. Win, lose, or draw, it'll be fun. But, you gotta work on those launches. You live or die in the first 60' . BTW, my understanding is that the key to a good launch with an LS1 F-bod is to really slip the clutch. I took my wife's F-bod (stock '99 Firebird Formula, LS1, M6, Hurst, but not a Ram Air) to the track once, but I wasn't willing to abuse the clutch, so the best I could manage was 13.91 @ 107.XX.

Cool

Hank,

No offense taken to your post. A well driven WS6 is a worthy opponent for most Lightnings in the 1/4. Stop by at our January meeting if you get chance.

That's what I thought...I didn't get the whole "picking on the girls" bit since the times are pretty close stock for stock. I wish I could do a chip like you guys can

I'll have to try and catch up with you guys sometime...

What about Sanger? http://www.northtexasdragway.com/pages/LocationMap.htm

Do ya'll ever go up there to run the 1/8th too? I was considering going up there this weekend sometime to work on my launch before Ennis opens back up. I haven't been up there in a yr or so...

So we should try and arrange a get-together at Kennedale on the 11th. I've been wanting to see what my truck will do w/ the new converter(the old one was slipping ever since I've had it), it should be a little quicker.

What do you guys think? The 11th at Kennedale??

Hope to see you guys there.
