| Guest | I have been noticing a good amount of pinging at tip in and WOT with the Texas program that Jim gave me at FFW. When I am going about 50mph and I give it plenty of gas but not enough to make it downshift @ about 8psi of boost it pings. It used to not ping at WOT but today I was chasing what I believe to be a fake turbo porsche and I noticed it at WOT a bit. I know he handed out that program to a bunch of people and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problem. I never had any pinging when the weather was warmer so it must be a temperature issue. I would just like some feedback before I talk to Jim about it. Thanks, Sam |

| Guest | Sam, I suddenly started having the same problem about 3 weeks ago. I never had the problem with a 4# pulley, warm weather program and 49 degree temps. I was even pinging at 58 degrees. It was at the upper end of drive and O/D. The cold temps don't help but the gas was the main culprit. Jim sent me 2 test programs on a flip chip so he could see how it reacted to fuel and timing. I sent my flip chip back with detail observations about both programs. He sent my flip chip back with a nice running program (no detonation)on Side I and my warm weather program on Side II. I ran a 12.65 on F1's at full weight so I definitely wanted to keep that program. They have never jacked with the gas that bad around here but they did this year. Jim said a lot of people were having that problem this year. I hope this helps. ------------------ Later, Chuck Member# 497 Black 00 Chuck's Lightning Page [This message has been edited by LTNBOLT (edited 12-26-2001).] |

| Guest | My truck is pinging the last week too! Looks like we need yet another program the Texas winter TALON program Oh yeah I run Chevron 93. A petroluem engineer buddy from college told me Techron is one of the few additives that acctually work. Oddly enough he works for Exxon/Mobil.[This message has been edited by L8-APEX (edited 12-26-2001).] |

| Guest | Same problem here fellas! While lugging in overdive or while "in it" at speeds above 60-70 in detnates. I never had this problem after FFW in Ennis until two weeks ago, so it has to be a fuel problem. I run the Texaco 93 supreme. My L hates Exxon gas period!! |

| Guest | I only put 5 galons of the Phillips 66 gas in there to get me by. I use either Texaco or Mobil STRICTLY if possible. I am pinging on everything right now. I guess I should call Jim and try to get him to put a "winter" program on the other side of the chip. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sam |

| Guest | I will email a question down south. Gas quality must have changed. The chip program is running the same timing and A/F ratio as the summer. Fuel content is the only variable and winter gas is different just not sure how. I have been running on my stock program lately or autoX to help fight detonation. Guess a 4way chip is for the 4 seasons, LOL ![]() |
