| Guest | stang46sc, Maybe you can help me with a little problem. I just got a '96 GT with a Vortech V1. I have problems pinging. Where do I start first? Any good Mustang shops in Dallas that you prefer? I think the supercharger is the only performance mod. And it is a 6#. I want 8# and a chip. What do you prefer? Oh yeah, congrats on the new L. | Guest | Justin, Pinging is a terrible thing --- leads to no motor in car or truck as the case may be. I would contact the vendor of the supercharger and see if they have a rep in the Dallas area. You are beyond the knowledge of a "certified FORD mechanic". I would think that you would definitely require an ECU adjustment or a chip --- CALL THE VENDOR OF THE SUPERCHARGER MONDAY AM Just my $.02 worth ![]() |

| Guest | Justin, im pushing 13psi in my 96gt. You have to put a wide band o2 on it with a rich lean meter. Dallas mustang tuned it the first time and they just put the meter in the end of the tail pipe wich gave a false reading and i blew the motor two weeks later. I had my new motor built at Houston perfomance. Steve is very knowledgeable on the mod motors. I have all forged internals and p&p'ed my heads and have custom blower cams. With a supercharger you really need to get a good tune done on it(chip). They set my car up to run a little on the rich side. If you have a timing adjuster then you can pull some timing out for the time being until you get a tune. If your detonating then dont get on it till you get a dyno tune done. Its ok to drive it, just stay out of the boost. Give me more details and maybe i can narrow down what your gonna need besides a tune. ------------------ 01 silver Lightning 96 red gt 428hp&415tq |

| Guest | stang46sc Welcome to the board and congratulations on the purchase of your silver Lightning. Thats the good news. Now for the bad. Since you are the newest member of the "Silver" group, club bylaws indicate you will be held personally responsible for the behavior and remarks from your "Silver" bretheren up to and including all wagers made on this board until such time as your tenure as "Silver Rookie" expires. I suggest you go see a loan officer. ![]() |
