Where is 6pipes?

sixpipes is running an e-mail address through AOL and this really sucks. What can we do to get a domain for our SVT group?

Dont bother to try to change the Go_rila .. I offered him a SVTLightnings.com email address and he doesnt use it....

I did a quick domain search on TALON and variations and didnt see anything I liked...

Unless we are going to go full boar and run a forum and everything there is no real sense in spending the time and money for a domain name....

Hey Silver,

Check with BrianK at NVLOPE, (see below), he set up the NVLOPE name and everything in real short order, and each member of NVLOPE kicked in to cover the expenses. TALON is a lot bigger organization with a lot more posts, gonna let a little virginy organization pass you by??? Chat with BrianK!

I knew Brian was the Nvlope web mastermind. He and I exchanged Web links...

I know that it is technically not difficult to register a domain and get it going... I have done it 4 times.
I guess the purpose of my post is to guage interest. With the exception of Go_rilas help I have done the TALON and SVTLightnings pages myself so far. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome but I dont know what the difference (or advantages) a spearate domain will have from the current NLOC forum and the TALON subweb we have now.

OK you guys what do you think ?

It's a "whatever" situation. I just !!Hate!! to see e-mail addresses to AoL ... "pucker".
The domain thing is ........ whatever we make it.

I personally like being a part of the NLOC site. Our forum gets a lot of visitors from outside the Dallas area and I'm afraid we would lose that if we had a different domain. I'd rather be a small fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond. Actually, I'd really like to be big fish in a big pond. Actually, I'd rather be a big gorilla in a big jungle, but.......as **** Jagger says, "you can't always get what you want". Its late.

I need to get Frontpage added to my laptop so I can be more help with the TALON web site. As you know, my home PC is way outdated and very slow. My laptop should allow me to actually make additions and changes without spending the evening in front of the computer. Run the email thing by me again. I'd love to drop my AOL account.

At the very least, drop AOL and use Everyone's Internet or something, if you cant get broadband. Its like 10 bucks a month compared to $22 for AOL....

Your right, blue-oval01@attbi.com is pretty boring. But, it is only one of about 5 domains that I use.
WAY No!! Don't change what we have now with the discussion group.
As moderator, 6pipes should be privy to something like sixpipes@stvlightnings.com or sixpipes@talon.com.
It's just an e-mail address and shouldn't effect anything the group has now and/or relies on.

The domain choices for Talon are pretty slim.

And, as I hate boring e-mail addresses, I'm changing mine in the profile.

Should be active in 24 - 48 hours.

...or I could help Doug deploy a webmail solution to the existing svtlightnings.com email addresses. Once it's running it's zero maintenance.

Easy easy stuff if we wanted to do it.

I have webmail working on SVTlightnings.com... As I said before I have offered web addresses to folks and received little if any interest. Currently I Have anything@svtlightnings.com forwarding to my ISP mail account. I can offer an SVTLIghtnings.com email address to anyone in Talon if you are interested. Send me an email with the address you want and where you want it forwarded. If you prefer I can also send you the details how you can log into a webpage and getyour mail directly from the SVTLightnings.com server.

The lack of interst I have seen before make me wonder if the time and expense involved in settingup a new domain is worth it... If things have changed great.. I will help anyway I can..

But, whatever we do, it should be a reliable account for sixpipes. Since he is considered one of the main contacts for the group.
