Post Intercooler leak and Cobra for sale

Well looks like it finally happened. I went on a road trip last weekend to Lake Conroe in the Lightning and did some good 100+mph cruise sessions in the Lightning. Well now my coolant is about 1.5-2 inches low. Oh well guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. BTW I have a 2000 model with 8000 miles. This is my first intercooler but I am on my 2nd engine (2001 long block, upper was swapped over from old motor). Guess I will go over F150online and add my story to tundra's post and then make a trip over to BON and fill out their form THEN make an appointment to take it to the shop.

BTW, I am selling my 98 Cobra convertible. Its white, black leather, black top. It has 30k miles and has a 5/75 Premium ESP warranty. Only mods are flows, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, and filter. Asking $22,000. If interested shoot me an email at righteous@flashmail.com. Its going in the paper on Friday.

Thanks,
Sam

Hey Sam,
Sorry to hear about the intercooler

Mine started to leak about a week ago, but I'm not allowed to bring my truck in until a FORD REP. is there. He needs to look over my L before any work is to be done.......

Is that not just saying, we would LOVE to cancel your warranty......

What sucks is they wont even look at it or even do a pressure test so they can order parts at least.

Im getting very sick of FORD's SH*T these days.

What PISSES me off is THEY are messing with the people that love their products.
Sorry SAM I just needed to vent.

Man that is not good. Why do they need to bring a ford rep to look at it? That seems odd. What dealership are you taking it to?

Don Davis

The reason is because of all the problems i've had with my L.

My service guy (which is very cool) said that it doesnt matter where I take it now FORD is watching my vin#.

I think its time to upgrade......

I am sure you guys have read this before, but I called the SVT hotline and confirmed that a new intercooler is coming very soon. It is in the process of being "qualified" as the guy put it. He told me to call the dealer and have them call the hotline for instructions. He said that what would most likely happen is that they would drain the system and turn off the pump. When the new cooler comes out make the swap. I am just a little weird about running around with no intercooler. I guess I will just pull the chip and drive it easy until its out. Oh well at least soon I will have the new permenant fix hopefully.

Cool

Sam - Thanks for the update. I have intercooler #3 in right now and expect it to go in another 3K or so. I don't think there is any harm at all in running the truck under "normal" conditions. Of course abee-normal is another thing. I can't imagine any detrimental effects other than poor performance because of elevated air/fuel temperatures.

Sam, sorry to hear about your problem. I sure have been lucky so far, 16k on it and no leak yet, hell I haven't even had the front end clunk yet. Probably just jinxed myself! Well I hope they get it fixed correctly and quickly for you. - Rick -
