Post Spring rates what does this mean?

I'm going to get a new set of rear leaf springs to lower the truck.

Hotchkis 300# rating
Metco fiberglass (low arch) 250#
Metco drag racing 215#
I don't know a lot about the ratings. I guess that the lower the rate the less you can haul but the ride will be softer also? The fiberglass ones are about 75#'s lighter than the steel ones, but a couple of hundred dollars more.

Has anyone had experience with the fiberglass ones yet?
