Post Installed Software..Now where to start?

Raymond, I searched the EECTUNER message board, and the NLOC board for instructions on how to start using the EEC tuner once the GUI and EECTUNER software is installed, but am really kinda scared to clear files etc..without being comfortable about what I am really doing?

In the morning I will connect the EEC tuner to the serial port and launch the GUIEECTUNER program for the first time. What do I need to do to get the Fun started? Will
there already be a file on the truck's computer? Or will I need to download a starter file? Also..what exactly do I need to do( in layman's terms) to start using this thing?? LOL .bin,. dat etc..scare me.

The starting points that I definately need are:

1)Speed/rev limiter removed.
2)Shift points changed. 1st-2nd=5200rpm
2nd-3rd=5500 rpm
3rd-4th=(stock)5krpm
3)Stock fuel /timing settings

That's all I can think off for now. I can change the fuel and timing manually at the track this week untill I get a laptop to take with me.

LOL..sorry about the vague questions, it's just that I don't know enough about what I'm supposed to do to even ask a more direct question.

Thanks for the help as always.

Dave, do you also have the Shiftmaster software (came on the diskette) installed ? You'll need to install it to do some basic setup with it then you wont need it and can use just the GUI.

So if you haven't go ahead and install it. Once it's installed open the program up and go to the menu and choose EEC Tuner then choose Verify EEC Tuner. If it says the board needs updating press OK otherwise it will say it's up to date.

After you do that go back to EEC Tuner and choose Read Ford ROM. This will take a bit so be patient. Once it's done it will display a screen with a bunch of HEX characters, just close it. Now you've loaded the PCM's memory to the Tuner. At this point you could start up the truck and drive around, it would be just like stock because you haven't changed anything yet. Remember unless you change something you are using the stock value.

Now moving on to the GUI..........

After you install the GUI-EEC Tuner program launch it up and go to View--->Configuration--->EEC Processor file and click on the (...) button to navigate to the your processor's .dat (lhbl04a.dat) file then click OK. This will load the components that can be modified for this processor family (similar to a template). From there you will need to go to File---> Import ROM File and navigate to your t.bin (it should be in C:\Program Files\ShiftMaster\EEC Tuner that the Shiftmaster software created when you did a Read Ford ROM. Doing this will load the stock Ford binary file and you will be able to see all the stock settings and proceed with your modifications.

I am going to e-mail you an updated Guieecvt.exe only file and the lhbl04.dat that you need. Along with what's called a .cal file that you open with the GUI. The .cal file can be downloaded straight to the Tuner from the GUI and will have the basic settings you want. It's like a pre-made file with what you want already setup.

Thanks,
Raymond
