Thumbs up Getting started.

First i'd like to thank you for helping my girlfriend to set up the whole deal. It really made my Christmas great.

Now down to business

My mods are:

Headers/X pipe(no cats) Duals w/race magnums
Pulleys w/(ASP race crank pulley)
Level 10 shift kit
Art Carr 10" convertor NON lockup.
4.56 gears
NOS Big Shot wet kit @ 150HP
1.72 roller rockers(ford)

I run ET STREETS with the stock suspension and have run a best of 13.3 @ 100mph hitting the speed limiter at a track that is 3000ft above sea level.( 1.9 sec 60 ft time..good for the track conditions)

I'd like to:
. Remove speed limiter
. Remove rev limiter, move the rev limiter to 10k RPM or change rev limiter to cut spark instead of fuel.(Possible?)
. Adjust shift points to 5500 RPM at all WOT shifts
. Retain stock Fuel and Timing curves (so that I can change them manually at the track)

Finally, I would like to have your opinion on what my timing/fuel curves should be like..since you ran nitrous on your truck. Base timing with certain HP shot, base fuel pressure, octane you ran etc..

If you could set up a fuel/timing curve for the nitrous I would also apprecieate it. I run the NGK tr6 plugs..2 stages colder than stock and the stock fuel system. Usual FP is about 40-45psi vaccum off.

Thanks again Ray..i'll check back soon.

Ray: I am currently installing the software onto my computer..if I need to change the COM port to a different port..how exactly would I do this? If I have any glitches witht the installation I will let you know.

Thanks in advance and have a happy new year.

Dave, to change the COM port for the Shiftmaster software do a search for a file named EECTuner.ini It's usually located in

C:\Program Files\ShiftMaster\EEC Tuner

Open it up with Notepad and change the PORT=COM1 value to whatever you need it.

Dave after you've done the initial getting started with the Shiftmaster software you'll need to download the GUI-EEC Tuner software. Do you have that yet ? If all you did was download it from www.guieectuner.com I need to send you some updates.

Speed and Rev limiter are no problem, we just move them out of the way (can't change the way they work).

There are 1-2 2-3 3-4 WOT shift points. You can make the 2-3 and 3-4 settings 5500 exactly, but the 1-2 you need to give a few RPM cushion to let the tranny operate (that's because of the high rate of engine acceleration in 1st) so set it to about 52-5300.

On the fuel and spark, to leave them stock just don't change anything

My truck was looking lean with the 130 shot so first after seeing how it does with the improved WOT shift points I would add a bit of fuel to see how it responds. To do that under WOT only first set the min_rpm_for_WOT_Fuel_multiplie to 16381.75.

Funky name funky value I know, but basically that turns this function on. Then go to the wot_fuel_multiplier and multiply ALL the numbers by .98. That will effectively richen the truck up by 2% (cause lower numbers = richer) under WOT throughout the RPM range. I pick 2% since I like to do it in 2% increments. You could do 2,4,6, etc. You can also just do certain RPM points, but I think the whole range is a good SAFE place to start.

Timing I'm kinda leary of, get the plugs looking good and tan and then we'll talk

Ray: I downloaded the Shiftmaster software only. Just the floppy disk. I have not gotten the GUI downloaded yet..should I click the link you posted or do you have a more complete link for me that allready has the updates?

The WOT shift program sounds good.

As for the timing, I currently run 12-13* initial, should I set this back to 10* on the truck or do I leave the distributor as it is?

For the fuel Psi. Should I do it in 2% increments via the tuner? Or should I change it at the regulator like I do now? What is the difference in tuning this way?

Lol..i feel this post is going to go on forever.
Thanks Raymond.

Hi Dave, yes 1st thing is download the basic GUI from www.guieectuner.com . Once that's done and installed let me know and I will send you the updates.

On the timing I'd set the dist back to 10. With the Tuner you can edit the RPM based timing table. If you wanted to mimic twisting the distributor and adding 2-3 degrees then you would just add 2-3 degrees to the entire table. But I think it would be better to just experiment with maybe just adding 2-3 degrees to the upper end (WOT) part of the table. Your going to have to experiment with adding timing to different areas (basically reshaping the timing map to what the truck likes). Since you have been able to run an extra 2-3 degrees base that's what I would work with at first since it seems like a safe bet. With good fuel and if the plugs look good maybe a bit more, but as you know you gotta be carefull here.

You can lower the A/F with the WOT multiplier to a point. If it gets you where you need to be without having to raise the fuel pressure then that's the way to go since usually for best driveability you want the FP to be at or near stock.
