Post Having Fun, and want more!

Hey Raymond,
The tuner is working great, I think I've tuned the timing table the best I can. What else can I try playing with to try to get my truck faster? I have the transmission pretty perfect now. How about the torque converter lock-up? I want to play without screwing something up! Thanks - Brian
p.s. How much are the wide-band O2's?

Hi Brian, that's good to hear !!! Converter lockup can definitely affect WOT performance and around town driveability and "feel". You might try editing the tps and mph based lockup points. As a for instance in 2nd gear I had mine effectively always unlocked (just set all the mph to 60). I liked the way it felt and with the blower it kept it up on boost (although with the Kenne Bell I'm sure that's not a problem ) You can also play with shift points. You can raise both the points when the truck upshifts or downshifts. Are you a member of my mailing list ? If so go to the files area and download the spreadsheet that lets you calculate RPM vs mph in different gears. You need to either slowly raise the shiftpoints or use the spreadsheet to calculate the RPM at the MPH you pick 'cause you can put it in the rev limiter since the shift schedules can override the WOT shift points. Also always make sure to keep the first two numbers the same. An example would be the 1-2 shift schedule. The top two TPS values are 1020 and 644, when editing the schedules make sure to put the same MPH in both the boxes. It can be any MPH just as long as it is the same.

Here's an example:

1020 38.50
644 38.50
644 31.50
300 24.50
200 18.50
152 14.50
100 12.00
60 9.00
40 8.00
0 8.00

If I wanted my WOT 1-2 shift to occur at 42 mph I would do this:

1020 42.00
644 42.00
644 31.50
300 24.50
200 18.50
152 14.50
100 12.00
60 9.00
40 8.00

Any of the other TPS points can be changed individually and even the TPS settings can be edited. You just have to make sure the top pair is the same.

Thanks,
Raymond

Thanks Raymond, I got my shift points right where I want them now, but I think I'll try playing with the converter points - Brian
