Question EEC tuner setup questions

Hello Raymond. I have a few questions about the eec tuner. Do I have to have a laptop to use it, and if so what requirements must the laptop have such as a usb port etc..

Second, my mods are Nitrous, gears, shift kit, exhaust, pulleys and a convertor. How much will i be able to play with my timing/fuel curves/shift points, firmness, speed and rev limiters without a wideband air/fuel ratio gauge?

Third. Will I be able to manually adjust my timing and Fuel pressure once the truck is programed with the tuner? Or will I have to re tune it with the tuner all the time?

Finally, can any dyno operators tune the truck on the dyno using your EEC tuner? Or are they going to force me to buy a chip?

Lastly..how much is the EEC tuner and all necessarry hardware going to cost me?

Oh, if there is a FAQ online about the eec tuner I would love to read it.

Thanks.

I'm not Raymond, but these links may help:

www.eec-tuner.com
or
www.iwantperformance.net

On the 'Tuner site, there is a FAQ section. Also, there is an EEC-Tuner mailing list on Yahoo with tons o' info about tuning.....good group of folks.

Have fun,

Hi Dave, you don't have to have a laptop, but it's a lot easier. The EEC-Tuner mounts like a chip and it can be programmed from a desktop PC. Then you can put it back in the truck, but that requires removing the truck computer every time you want to make a change and that is a PITA.

Don't sweat the wideband unless you are going to make radical fuel changes. Just read the plugs, it never really hurts (except you might go slower ) to go rich just don't go lean.

You can manually change whatever you want, just keep in mind that the effects will be cumulative. So if you set up a timing table in the Tuner then set your dist. at 12 you are adding 2 degrees to the entire table including WOT.

Just like timing it's the same for fuel tuning. Fuel pressure is not adjusted via the Tuner, but if you richen the truck up using fuel tables in the Tuner software then raise the fuel pressure you are richening it up even more.

You'll probably find yourself using the Tuner more since you can target specific areas and change more items.

I don't know of any dyno shops that'll tune with a Tuner. Honestly the Tuner is setup more for the DIY rather than for a shop to use.

For NLOC member's EEC-Tuner's run 349.00 + 10.00 shipping.
