| Guest | Its about time for some chip tuning of some sort. I have my new cam in now so my rev range has changed. It still makes great power even when the rev limiter kicks in. A Superchip is $240 and $45 for any reburn. Sorry to ask again, but the EEC-Tuner is how much? I dont have a laptop, is that required? Also is it user friendly? Its getting to that point of needing electronic help to go faster, with the injectors and controlling rev limiter, etc. Could you walk me through this EEC-Tuner once more? I really appreciate your time and knowledge. Rod K. Soon to be EEC-Tuner equipt!! ![]() ------------------ Rod K. | Guest | Hi Rod now your talkin ![]() The EEC-Tuner does not require a laptop. It comes with an AC power unit so you can hook it to your desktop and download changes. The EEC-Tuner attaches just like a chip and the problem with programming it that way in a Lightning is that the processor is a big PITA to pull in and out. Although the Tuner comes with a 6' cable so you might be able to get the truck close enough to the desktop There are also some places where you can get a really long serial cable. Or you could look on EBAY for a cheapo laptop. All you need is something that will run at least Windows 95 and has a floppy and serial port. I've seen them for go for 200.00 and cheaper. As far as user friendly, it's pretty straight forward, but a lot of people don't like the names of the different items that can be changed in the software. Once you figure those out though I don't think it's a big deal. To get a look at the software you will be using go to www.guieectuner.com You can download the free version and check it out. Also check out my documentation UBB http://www.iwantperformance.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi there is a topic there on Loading an EEC-IV file in the GUI software. I'll e-mail you the other files you need if you want them. I sell EEC-Tuner's to NLOC members for 349.00 + 10.00 shipping. Let me know if you have any more questions ! ------------------ Thanks, Raymond Performance Specialties 01 Cobra 95 Lightning (lots O' mods faster than the Cobra) |

| Guest | Raymond, One last thing. Can you program a starting point for the parts I have installed such as heads, cam, and injectors, so the truck will run right away, and we can tune it from there? Is that how you normally do it? I have 2 important buys in the immediate future. Cal-Tracs and the EEC-tuner. I hope they make a nice difference in my ET. Thanks for all your help, Rod K. ------------------ Rod K. '93 Lightning #1529 13.683 @ 98.66 Au Natural '98 SVT Contour E1 #5782 '00 Suzuki Bandit S1200 10s?? |
