| Guest | So you can change your cam and recalibrate the computer to work correctly with the new cam and not have to convert it to mass air??? That would be pretty cool considering a mass air unit costs around $900.00 or so! I will be getting a lap top in the near future for school! HAHA! Okay, Okay I will use the word processing programs every once in a while. But I need this system. Shane |

| Guest | Absolutely, mine has been a speed density experiment in progress. It's now getting a 13lb S-Trim and 42# injectors along with the big cam and alum heads. And it's still speed density You might actually use Excel once or twice too so you can add that to the usefulness of the laptop ![]() ------------------ Raymond, Performance Specialties |

| Guest | Hmmm...Wouldn't it be cool to install a desktop behind the seat and get one of those little Alpine LCD display thingies and run the desktop display to the LCD and have a keyboard and be able to tune it at any time...Ok, hair brained idea but man that would be trick!! I don't think I'll convert to MA and I'll just go with the EEC Tuner once the funds are good enough to warrant that purchase... ------------------ Curt '93 Red Lightning #4232 http://www.geocities.com/lightning_struck93/index.html |

| Guest | Well the big old sub is in the center console so I'd put the CPU behind the drivers side or passengers side seat..You should see my computer though, it's about the size of a 3" 3 ring binder, it's pretty nifty.. I just think it would be cool, not like I would do it... ------------------ Curt '93 Red Lightning #4232 http://www.geocities.com/lightning_struck93/index.html |

| Guest | Keith, it will work on all Lightning processors. The C3P1 is the odd unit out of the bunch, Ford threw me a curve on that one. They put the exact same data in different places so I had to find it again ![]() ------------------ Raymond, Performance Specialties |

| Guest | Raymond thanks for clearing that up. I have a few more questions, I hope you can answer them. So you are saying that for $350 or so, I can use this eec-tuner and don't need anything else except for a laptop. And that I can change things to allow me to run a big cam, heads, injectors, ect, and it's that easy? Or maybe a stroker engine? I'm not questioning you, but it seems too good to be true. I've tried chips and mass air kits and have had nothing but horrible results. This is something that I can do and change as I modify things? I would like it if you could provide some more detail and explanation of this tuner either here or e-mail me directly. I am very interested. I've never heard of this before. Thanks, Keith |

| Guest | Hi Raymond, Im also very interested in the EEC Tuner. When purchased, do you set a starting point of tune into the chip with my mods tuned in or do I tune everything myself? Im putting ported TW heads on and possible 24# inj. Im not sure I have the tuning knowledge to start from scratch. Im more of a hardward kind of guy. Thanks for your time, Rod K. ------------------ Rod K. 93 Lightning #1529 14.33 @ 93.31 so far.. 98 SVT Contour E1 #5782 |

| Guest | Keith, I understand your concerns and they are valid. I guess the way I should word my responses is that the things needed to make a speed density truck run with those radical changes are available in the software that comes with the Tuner (they are available with chips too). I would think that maybe your problems have been mail order stuff, since it is really hard to tune something long distance. I won't lie and guarantee every combination can be tuned to perfection with an EEC-Tuner, but I will say that I think that most vehicles can be done. There is a learning curve associated with the EEC-Tuner and some people find it a bit steep at first (mainly the terminology), but if you have a good understanding of how engines work and take it slow it isn't that big a deal. My truck is an experiment in progress so I'll be able to report back any problems I've had and their solutions. The next step in tuning is the addition of an S-Trim pullied for 13 lbs of boost (got a 15 too) and 42 lb Lucas injectors. Keith I also sent you an EEC-Tuner FAQ and a bunch of links to more info. You can post here or e-mail me directly if you have more questions. ------------------ Raymond, Performance Specialties [This message has been edited by Raymond_B (edited 01-27-2001).] |

| Guest | Rod, I would be more than happy to help you set a baseline. Don't sweat the computer stuff, honestly all you really need is keyboard and mouse skills and know where the cables connect :> ) ------------------ Raymond, Performance Specialties |
