So what about the rumors of them not knowing who has a reservation?? Do they know or just going by people's word.

I suggest ALL who plan to stay at the Empress, call and reconfirm/book your rooms. It only take a call, and saves time and arguments/dissapointments at registration.

Nan and I spent a lot of time with the LightningFest host hotels. We compared hotel registration, to event registrations. This time it is up to each of you to check your own reservations.

I also was told that the hotel would be open for the event weekend, but verify that yourselves, to ensure you have rooms.

Empress Casino in Joliet has set June 25 as its reopening date.
The casino will reopen at 10:30 a.m. with a remodeled casino and meet a previously announced deadline to be back in business by late June.
The casino shut down March 20 when a fire destroyed the pavilion building that houses restaurants and shops.
The casino, however, was saved, and the Empress used the down time to doan already scheduled renovation of the facility.
"It may be the same casino, but our guests won't recognize the place,"
Empress General Manager Frank Quigley said in a written statement on Thursday. "We're transforming both gaming floors to create an atmosphere that combines classic luxury and glamour of the 1930s art deco style with the latest technology and amenities designed for their comfort."
Some features include large plasma screen TVs throughout the casino, a new 240-seat buffet, an expanded high-limit gaming area, and a new VIP layers lounge.
The fire occurred during renovation work in the pavilion area.

Trying to reconfirm my reservations today and keep getting a runaround between reservations and the front desk. Left a message with the manager, so we'll see if he calls back.

Dwight, as I remember, the rate was $69, and rate code I had was 85791. The people I talked to say they don't have any info from before the fire!

I was told today to talk to a woman named Debbie Carter. She has a folder with all the race weekend info. She will be back in the office monday after 2pm, so i am gonna try then to reconfirm my room.

Debbie Carter just called me back. She says as long as we bring our confirmation no. when we come, we'll have our room. She has me down for July 16-18 and I confirmed with her that the rate is $69 + tax.

It sounds like they may not have their computer system 100% yet, as they are scheduled to reopen on June 25. So, just call her, she was very nice and helpful.

I reconfirmed today. She did say if you had a confimation number you were good,but she didnt have any of my info so I had to basically rebook. I would highly suggest calling.

Called yesterday morning, Debbie called me back later in the day.

Took care of me, no problems. I didn't have my confirm from the last time (can't remember where I put it), but she reserved my room again at the same rate.

They lost all their reservation information from before the fire.

Make sure you call to re-register or confirm!

I just spoke to Debbie. We had reserved a room about a week or so ago. She adjusted my rate to the $69 and told me that they are sold out. No conf. number yet, as their system is not up yet.
