New from Albuquerque

Hey everyone, my name is Joe and I'm not really new to this site, I have been lurking around for a while but just registered. I have always been into performance cars/trucks. Back in high school I had a 96 Z28, after graduation it was a 99 Trans Am. From there I fell in love with a 2003 Ford Harley Davidson truck. After owning it for a while my dad offered to buy it from me so I was free to get whatever kind of vehicle I wanted. I ended up buying a 2001 laser red Cobra convertible. It was a fun car but I ended up selling it after being pulled by a stock Z28 at the dragstrip. I then bought a 2002 Corvette, what a fun car but once again I became bored with it and just sold it recently. The wife wanted a new car so we ended up getting a 2007 Hummer H3 I drive when I'm not stuck driving my Lancer. Well I'm itching for speed again and want another fast vehicle, I tried buying the Harley truck from my dad but he wasn't having that and rather than trying to find one I decided to try and buy a Lightning. I have looked in the classifieds and they are reasonably priced, I have pm'ed a few sellers and am just waiting for a response. Hopefully I will be a L owner soon

Check the ads on this site and ebay. NEVER offer what they want. You may surprise yourself with a good deal.

none on craigslist or yahoo has one in my area that I have looked at before but it's a POS, fog lights are from pepboys/qutozone and dont work, passenger side window doesn't work, sc pulley is screeching and it pulls right, easily fixed but for 16k with 71k on the clock it ain't worth it, plus dealer wont budge on price even though they have had it like 7 months

Gen 1 or Gen 2

There are some good deals on both models on this site.I wouldn't buy one with many mods. If your farmiliar with the Lightnings you know they blow up pretty easy. The biggest problems are the rods, and the different size pulleys that are put on them. I had a 2lb upper and a 6 lb lower, and a cloud of smoke and several thousand $ in repairs.

Look for a pretty stock one with just a few miles like 30k.Check the tires and signs for obvious abuse.

I would think if you looked in the Texas area you should be able to find something.

A good idea would be to place an add here on the site and see who is interested in selling and how much you want to spend.

There are alot of great guys here and just ask as ya go.There all pretty straight shooters.

You might consider joining the NLOC.It's a good investment and the guys know trucks!!!\

So I found a Oxford white 2003 Lightning with 50,129 on the clock, dealer wanted 18k, after 30 minutes of talking he said that he would take 16k. I walked away, got a call the next day asking what I would pay for it, my response, 15k including tax, title, license and window tint. Long story short, it's now sitting in my garage, I also bought an extended warranty 3/36 no deductible for $800. It's amazing how desperate they were to sell this truck. Their loss is my gain
