| Registered User Paid Member | Noob Gen1 owner, South NJ.... hello to everyone, ive been checking this site out for a while now and have been picking up alot of good information and seeing alot of great trucks and getting ideas for future plans. ive been a turbo and vw guy for 15 yrs, and have used all my trucks for light towing of my cars to the track. i sold my gen2 lightning not too long ago and went with a 93 gen1 to replace it. ive always wanted a gen1 since i first saw one over a decade ago, its more a muscle truck to me than a play toy like the gen2....although i wished i couldve kept both!! its basically stock for now with a bassani side exhaust exit. definitely different than the gen2, so a blower might in order sooner than later. i look forward to conversing with everyone on the site and progressing with my new pride and joy sport truck. cheers! Brady heres a shot of my new gen1 and my old gen2... |

| Registered User Paid Member | thanks! gen1's are definitely fun. ive gotten more looks in a couple weeks with the gen1 than i did in a year with the gen2. im disappointed i missed out on the del. val. bbq last week, i didnt know about it until i came into this forum to read some other posts from newcomers to lightnings. thats real close by to where i live and wouldve been a great opportunity to meet alot of people from this site and locally. |

| Registered User | These Gen1's do get respect.Have you been to the local website Delaware Valley Lightning Owners Where in S jersey are you. We have about 9 Gen 1's just in Salem County. Just seen a white Gen 1 for sale in Pennsville. That is a sweet looking truck you have there! Looks better than new! Pete Last edited by Cowtown Pete; 07-24-2007 at 02:01 PM. | gen1svt | welcome, . bought my 93 gen 1, always liked the looks. its pretty fun to cruise around in. you know gen 1 actually handle pretty good. The brakes have been hard to get used to as it is the one thing that sucks on them i think. sorry so long |

| Registered User Paid Member | id have to agree with the handling. my gen1 is pretty solid, alot more than i thought it would be for being nearly 15 yrs old. my front feels a little soft for me, even though it has new factory shocks at all 4 corners. id like to put a drop setup on it and make it a little stiffer up front, but time will tell. id rather put more power into it first. it definitely handles better than my 98 SS/T that i had before my gen2. the gen2 rode like a sports car with its suspension kit on it. im going to go over my brakes completely. the fronts need to be replaced as the pads are low, and i noticed some dampness at the rear drums when i had it on a lift last week, so it looks like some wheel cylinders are in order. at that point, might as well change out the rubber lines for some SS, and make it a complete makeover of the brake system. |
