| Guest | I don't know how many of you (if any) are members of SVTOA, but there is some movement afoot to get a local (KC area) chapter going. 1st informational meeting is going to be on 12-Jan-02 at Olathe Ford in the 'upstairs conference room'. Meeting starts at 10:00 am. Some areas of the country hold open track and/or drag events for their members, and a lot of other venues. I have no idea what will happen here but I personally plan on being there to make sure L's have at least some representation. Anyone else care to join me? ------------------ NLOC #307 12.93 @ 106.50 2001 KCIR Fun Ford Weekend Lightning Class Winner 2001 Crown Autocross Club E Street Prepared Champion |

| Guest | roger thats a little early for me to do what i have to and get their but i will try weather permitting. you might post on the national page to get more of kansas, okla, iowa and ill interested. It will take a large group more than local to get it up and running plus strong dealer support. remember vegas was cancled due to the lack of interest. what about the mustang clubs? it needs to be posted on their boards also. I am all for the event but realize it takes a large group. where would the event be held? topeka? |

| Guest | I'd like to be in on that also, if I can work it out. I'm not a member of SVTOA, but would be if I had a somewhat local chapter to work with. I don't think there are enough SVTs or interest in Mid-Mo to warrant having one here, so KC would be my other choice. Shawn, it's that the day you planned on the "bomb"ing party? For an "official" Lightning rep, I nominate Roger, as he works for Ford there in KC, and has his hands in all kinds of racing. As far as an 'official rep' I appreciate that but I don't know what the time requirements would be. Anyway, the more that show up, the better L's will be represented. There's a good posssiblity with the MKLO's experience in organizing stuff we could jumpstart this!?! ------------------ NLOC #307 12.93 @ 106.50 2001 KCIR Fun Ford Weekend Lightning Class Winner 2001 Crown Autocross Club E Street Prepared Champion | |

| Guest | I think heartland would be the best. that way their could be more than 1 event drags road course and probally autocross and salon. the group can be divided up to run in event in different shifts. works out great. they don't seem to be interested in other clubs being listed they want it only an svt event. nothing like the nloc at least thats what they told me. it takes at least 100 entries to make it fly. they have people from driving schools run the events at least the 2 i have been to. they have been 2 day events. . thats what they told me when i was asking about doing this in kc when i was at the svtontrack in dallas. if i could only remember names. it takes really strong dealer support, plus other vendor business support. |

| Guest | The positive comments sound encouraging. If we want this to take off we'll need to make a conscious effort to attend and give a 'show of force/interest' so-to-speak. Hey Shane...can you contact your buds in Okla and see if they'd be interested in driving north to participate in a 2-day event at say, Heartland Park? It would include Drags, Show-n-Shine, Auto-X and open track. Dave; anyone else from your neck of the woods driving an SVT product interested in something like this? Ballpark numbers would be nice to have when we go in. We've got two awesome facilities within an hour of the KC area (Kansas Speedway & Heartland Park), so hopefully we can drum up some corporate support if we can show numbers. Maybe even have a vendor area to let them showcase/sell products. The Ford event at KCIR has generated around 100 entries for the last two years. (Show/Race numbers were in the mid 90's in 2000. Attendance was about 1.5 times that I'd guess. I'm don't know about last summer. Can anyone remember (or anyone with KCIR ties) / find out the total attendance for last summer's event? ------------------ NLOC #307 12.93 @ 106.50 2001 KCIR Fun Ford Weekend Lightning Class Winner 2001 Crown Autocross Club E Street Prepared Champion [This message has been edited by roger (edited 12-28-2001).] |
