| Guest | Taurus! It's roomy, not bad on price and it looks a helluva lot better than a Focus! Plus, we DO NOT NEED 2 L's!!! Or 2 trucks for that matter. | Guest | I think I'd drive that SVT Focus before you pencil it off the list. The program manager for that vehicle, Andy Slankard is an ex-Skip Barber instructor (one of the premier drving schools in the country), and a certified car fanatic. He was given that job due to the excellent work he did on the Lightning project. When asked what his emphasis was for the vehicle he said "My main concern is getting you into turn one deeper than the next guy." It's really hard to find fault with that kind of enthusiasm in my book. The brakes on the car are almost as large as the Mustang Cobra (Fronts are 300mm on the Focus vs. 330mm on the SVT Mustang Cobra). HP is 'only' 170, but 80% of the torque is available from 2k rpm on up. It only weighs 2800 lbs also--that's about 55% of what a L weighs in at. Sticker is only 18k, less on A/X plan. These cars handle very well with 4 wheel independent suspension, great gas mileage, yada, yada...My son has one, and I have 1st hand knowledge of how well it will 4 wheel drift, er, ah, I mean handle in the corners < > Actually I'd autocross it if it weren't an slushbox. The SVT Focus will have a 6-speed Getrag tranny in it.Oh, and there's more than one company getting an Eaton ready for it. Bump that puppy upto 240 HP or so and it would be a real interesting experience. ------------------ NLOC #307 12.93 @ 106.50 2001 KCIR Fun Ford Weekend Lightning Class Winner 2001 Crown Autocross Club E Street Prepared Champion [This message has been edited by roger (edited 12-23-2001).] |

| Guest | Well I will see tomorrow how much we owe on the F-250 The transfer case is making the noise it has been having I drove all the way home with it locked in 4X4 and it never made the noise shifted it out of 4X4 and bam the noise cam back slowed to almost a stop locked it back in and the noise is gone. As far as cars goes. I have made my choice it may not be the wisest choice hell I did't even list it on the above list but I looked at it quite a few times today at the local dealership here. Its cool has 4 doors and is hella cool looking. but depends on what I find out tomorrow before I make an announcement. The Focus is still a 2 door car Granted it is a SVT but I want 4 full doors. I dunno things are gonna change alot this winter so we shall see what happen! I also spent many hours today cleaning the big truck. Boy what fun that was! | Guest | Oh not a good day the dealership is giving me 21 for the truck I owe alot more than that if they won't give me more for the truck but it doesnt sound like its possible. One thing did make me feel good the dealership owner Tom Pettijohn came out and said take this for what its worth but this is the best looking truck I have seen in a long time. I was like well its just a truck he said you just don't see someone take the time and pride like went into this truck around here. then I was like if ya liked it so much gimmie a bettr offer. So it looks as though I am in a holding pattern right now maybe we will know something friday. | Guest | WRX is a nice ride. One of the guys who auto-x'ed his on a regular basis lost 2nd gear, which took out the entire gearbox when it shelled. That wasn't too bad--until the dealer accused him of racing it and refused to warranty it. Had to tow it on a flatbed from N. Oak to Grain Valley and do it himself...ouch. I was watching him when the tranny went (I was starter at the time). It wasn't powershifted or anything...dunno what caused it. ------------------ NLOC #307 12.93 @ 106.50 2001 KCIR Fun Ford Weekend Lightning Class Winner 2001 Crown Autocross Club E Street Prepared Champion |
