Post Winter?

What's that? Here's it's mid December already, and temps are in the 40's-50's in the daytime, with no hint of snow. Here I bought a winter beater to drive in the snow, and there isn't any. I'm still driving my L, and why not? No snow, no salt, and the truck is running better.

I hear ya.... I havent stopped driving my Gt convertible yet either. MAkes you wonder why tracks like Milan closed in Oct, when they could have been open til now and making money. BTW, what kind of beater did you buy?

I'm sure glad the snow is holding off, I am going to be drving my L this winter since I did not get the Torino sold to buy a beater. The F1's are a year older and I am sure that it is going to slide more than last year.

lightngsvt,

Hi. I bought a little '91 Olds Cutlass Calais 4 door for $700. I put a $100 set of tires on it, tuned it up, changed the fluids, and it runs great. The cruise even works. Not much to look at, but it's a good reliable little car. Got almost 150,000 on it too, who says American cars don't last?

Hmmm, sounds like a good deal! I cant believe what some people want for used cars! I was looking over prices of like 97 Escorts and ZX2's (id have to sell my Focus and GT if I ever get a Gen2), some of these poeple still wwant $4-6000 for cars with 75-100k miles on em. Geez!

Got me a 91 Honda Civic for $1400. Yea, I know, a ricer, but it's anything but. No fart pipe, no wing that could double as a park bench, no stickers, you get the jist. Just a plain-jane car for getting me through the winters. Runs like a top. Got me 30mpg on the first tank. Nearly fainted when I handed the guy a $10 and got change back.

I know the feeling, I was giddy when I filled up my Focus for only $12!!!!! These gas prices make it almost affordable to drive a Lightning too!

I think I am about ready for winter. It started spitting snow on Friday and I knew that it was time to change the oil pump in my 77F250 4x4 Highboy which has power from down under. It is pretty stout for a 4x4 to be driven on the street. I think the oil pump did the job.

LOL. Fill my Ranger up when it gets to 1/4 tank. 10 bucks. I love this and I hope the prices stay this low for a while.

I know my S10 doesn't really count as a winter beater because its too new, but I need something that new because I drive between home and college too often to have something unreliable. I think its great getting 19mpg, is there something wrong with me? - Brian
