Thumbs up Colorado Springs - Colorado (club info?)

I recently retired from the military
(Air Force) after 20 1/2 years of way too much fun, sun, and travel. Joined the military contractor ranks to increase my stress level and make much more $$$ than I did as an enlisted guy.

I have wanted a "Lightning" for awhile now. I test drove one when they first came out while stationed at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The pure grunt of a 351 tearing up the pavement reminded me of my highschool days with a '56 F100 special edition truck owned by a childhood buddy.

(Ford made approx 2,000 Black/White color scheme '56 F100's with chrome stacks that rose up from the back of the cab and it had an unusual swept wing hood ornament - I am looking for another one!)

I have been involved in drag racing for many years. Growing up in S. California during the mid '70's street scene (cruising and street racing) I can say I seen more than my share of fast iron before our boy's in blue cracked down on everything (at the request of community leadership who viewed us as an annoyance).

I'm interested in the "new" 2001 Lightning. Looking to buy a new toy to tow my rare '84 black Buick GN to the local tracks and have fun with.

Ohhhh a GN. My favorite car....well favorite non-Ford besides the 87 GNX. Well there are several SVT licensed dealers around town here. Have you checked? You might need to see who has waiting lists. and you should be able to find out who has some coming in via the fleet manager at any one...Let us know how you do.

Do you have a recommendation of local dealerships I should pursue? (or... on the flip side of the coin - AVOID?)

Thanks in advance...

Everybody has their own personal preferences. I got my truck from Burts Arapahoe Ford and they considering I had a brand new truck that I owed so much on my truck was bought at a little bit higher than MSRP. They were good at first but to be honest with you...I won't go back to them. They don't know enough about the truck's bugs to bother with and maybe it's because I am a girl but they really like to argue with me about things that are regularly discussed on the F150online board. After 60K or so posts you would think that I would have a little bit of knowledge about my truck. Case in point, there is a front end clunk caused by the control arm rubbing and when I told them about it and the fix that the other owners came up with they didn't believe me. I had to print 8 pages of posts on it before they would consider it. I would probably go to Courtesy Ford. One of the LOCO guys, Sean, is a tech there. He's a smart guy, owns an L, for now anyway, and is aware of the issues the trucks have. So if you have maintenance issues you can trust Sean. But I wouldn't let them nail you for any more than MSRP. Hope that helps.
