First the Gen3 L, now the Cobra?

Over on www.corral.net their front page article about the axing of the Gen 3 Lightning goes on to talk about the reasons why Ford may be thinking about shelving the entire SVT organization...with a 300hp Mustang GT out now...etc.

What the hell has happened to our beloved SVT in the past two weeks?

This sucks.

I was told by the Ford dealership here in my home town that they were told that the svt would probabley be history.

The sad thing is that alot of the Mustang community is showing the same apathy that the Lightning community is.

In other words "oh well, I know Ford will give us something good." "We'll just have to sit back, wait and see." F*CK sitting back and waiting and seeing. If we do that, it will be too late.

Short of SVT's, what good has Ford ever given us true enthusiasts (and I'm not talking about in the 60's)? Remember that the '99 Cobra fiasco happened when Ford gave the Cobra to Team Mustang, instead of SVT.

Weren't there some ramblings that SVT as a group was to switch to some sort of a Shelby nameplate in the near future?

So, maybe SVT=Shelby.

Unfortunately, SVT has no real competition anymore. Many people won't buy a Dodge because of their recent quality problems. To see the Cobra go away would be no surprise really. I hope that it doesn't of course, but Ford is looking to make $$ on every car/truck they sell as they continue to lose market share. There are just too many people in this country that think there is some sort of status with driving a Honda/Toy as compared to the quality made here and engineered here. Every domestic I have owned has been a very good automobile. I don't need to support my ego or buy a BMW/Mercedes to pick up chicks either. I leave those cars for the unattractive people.
