New Lightning info

Word is it'll be at the NAIAS this week. The new 2010 Lightning will come in 2 flavors. Both will be 550hp, about the same torque. The standard L will be able to pull 10,000 lbs, so will be heavier duty. Now, for the exciting part - the other version will be a "drag pack" version and will weigh in at 800-1000 lbs lighter than the standard version and should pull 1.7 60' times on street tires and high 12's in the quarter. Now for the bad news - $50K to start.

I don't have an connections, this is just what I read on the web last night after a little searching. Coudn't get any details.

IF it does make it past the bean counters and other idiots at Ford, maybe - just maybe they can be talked into bringing it to Lfest6 ??

That's pretty exciting. Can't wait to see what it's going to look like. Lets hope they get rid of that yellow interior like they had in the concept.

$50,000? For a truck with a blower, suspension and body kit? Are you kidding me?

That means that the "adjusted price market value" will be somewhere around 65,000... screw Ford.

That's ridiculous. There is no reason that thing should be over 40k. The Gen 2's were what, 33-34?

So the next Gen. L is going to be a 3/4 ton? Why would they do that?

Rumor has it that an all new super truck has been spotted in the Land Down Under, in Australia. (Pictures are coming soon). It seems that Ford has been testing different variations of this new Lightning there because Australia has the best all around extreme conditions, from desert heat to high and cold mountains for vehicle testing.
Uh....you have to go to Australia for those conditions? That sounds pretty silly to me. Then again, Ford has done some stupid stuff so maybe 50k for a truck isn't completely unreal (although I think that article is just full of speculation).
