1 of 20 made??

i just bought a L a couple of weeks ago and just found a letter in the back storage compartment. It is from svt and headlines from the head manager. I contact the 1 800 # and he said they never heard of 1 of 20 made in 1999. so i called back and figured if i get someone else on the phone maybe they would know. this time i was rederected to someone who was more than just a guy doing the phones. he said that back in 1998 he remembers svt secretly pulling 20 trucks off the line to make a little rare. but you had to decode the vin to know and to purchase one you had to be a corperate ford employee. Well anyway the letter states that there are 20 rare trucks that year, and more research into contacting the head manager at that time who wrote the letter i found this all true, so my Qs to all is, How many people here have heard of this? if not alot or nobody then i quess it will be safe to say that this is a rare truck. thankyou

And after 12 years yours is the first to turn up? Something sounds a little fishy.
If you have a Lightning, you have a build number. Whats different about your Lightning?

i am still new to the truck so bare with me but according to the svt manager i spoke to he says 373 instead of the stock 355, k&n filter, something w/ the brakes, still looking into that. svt did search the vin. with no results but the manager said it needs to be taken one step further to decode the vin. with him. yes i will post a pic of the letter he sent just as soon as i get home tonight. thankyou

so you have 3.73 gears instead of 3.55's..... Hate to say it but thats not really that rare. Yes I know that 3.55's were standard in 99-00's but in the scheme of it all, knowing the capabilities of SVT (in 99-04) for them to do a gear swap is quite easy. IMO

Well why don't we get SVT in here and clarify it for us, he was the ford employee at the factory and knows more about the process there than any of us I am sure.

I sent him a PM with this thread, so hopefully he will jump in and say something!
