| Guest | i really want to get a L (im 16 and parents just see a nice truck hehehe) but i gotta know one thing- how hard does it pull stock and does the acceleration taper off greatly at higher speeds due to lack of aerodynamics and weight? how long can it burn out thanks and i hope i can be joining you all in this wonderful club |

| Guest | yeah i figured you older more mature people would say that and youre probably true- but what makes you all that much more deserving of such a fine vehicle, since id be paying for part of it- i mean come on were all 16 year olds at heart, right? btw sorry i cant count 1-3 whats the difference? |

| Guest | Hey speedaddict, Im 16 also. Thats the best part of a lightning, parents dont know its fast, they just think its a cool truck . Stock its pretty damn quick. Top end, more areodynamic cars start pulling away. As for the burn out qustion, I dont know, I dont like buying new tires (tires for 20"S are expencive). With about 700 dollars you can take close to a second off your et in the 1/4. As for the earlier posts some of the "adults" in this club are a lot more reclass driving than me (just read some war zone stories). Welcome to the club, good luck with your L buying. ------------------ 99 red L Mods so far: K&N filter, 01 headlights&corners, carbon fiber dash, signal mirrors, soft bedcover & bedrug 2000, 20" chrome rims Thats all... for now. |

| Guest | I wish i could have had a lightning when i was 16. Hell, I'm 23 and it took me a while to scrape up the cash for my 93. Anyways, its only been 7 years since i was 16 so i can see both sides of this argument. I know for damn sure there's no way you can tell a 16 year old male that he's not old enough for ANYTHING. It's simply not in anyone's programming to believe older people when they are that young. anyways speedaddict it would help you at least APPEAR to be a bit more mature if your nickname wasn't "SPEEDADDICT" and your questions weren't obviously directed at asking how good of a street racer the lightning is. And how long can it burn out? Long enough to **** your parents off when they have to buy you new tires after 5000 miles. I don't want to seem negative towards you, because i know you are just excited to be getting the coolest truck in the world. I just hope you keep it safe on the streets, and appreciate how lucky you are. |

| Guest | True we are all 16 at heart and believe me when I was 16 I made the same argument to my parents to have the coolest car around and thankfully they refused. Consenquently I ended up destroying 3 of their cars before I started to figure it out. When I was 17 I saved up enough money to buy my own car, a 67 mustang w/ a 302 2 barrel w/ a 3speed stick. This was no speed demon by far but I still managed to do a Dukes of Hazzard jump that resulted in ripping the subframe from the body(which I had fixed) and to top it off I totalled it being a jack *** on an icy road. This only the beginning of my stories. If I had something w/ the power of my Lightning at that age I surly would be dead. I can still remember when I was 16 telling my parents how responsible I was and me believeing that I was. Not to say that everyone is the same and maybe you guys are ready, just be carefull. What scares me the most is that you want to know what kind of top end this truck has and how long you can do a burn out. That lets me know that you definately are not ready for this kind of power. I take a lot of experience for someone to control a vehicle of this power level let alone one that weighs 4700 lbs. You would probly be better off with a Corvette. I'm not trying to chew you out dude I just don't want you to wind up dead. I'm 29 now and still make stupid moves now and then but not as bad as the ones I did 10 years ago. |
