Post Gambler’s Run Twin 50 Open Road Race

I just got off the phone with Mark and Stan (Ruslow) and their practice went well today. Stan said that the engine should stay together for tomorrow's event. He had the Lightning at 125 mph going up a hill and had 7 lbs of boost without problems. Mark, a good friend of mine and Stan's navigator, said he was surprised at how smooth the Lightning was at 150 mph, and there was still plenty of top end but the practice course was too short to take it up further.

The Lightning is the only truck entered which will make some parts of the course interesting considering the sidewinds. Yet, the fact that a truck is participating is way cool!

I'll post news tomorrow after I hear from them.

Spike

BTW Azeem, if Stan doesn't have any mechanical failures tomorrow, he join us at Thunderhill.

George... I just entered Stan into the event... that was the last spot. If you talk to him, tell with to SHOW UP. If he doesn't, we'll have to hassle with refunds, etc.

Gambler's update:

I just spoke with Mark's wife and they finished within a few tenth's of their desired time, so they must have been very close to 135 mph over the 100 mile run (actually two 48.5 miles legs). The time they wanted each leg should have been 21 minutes, 33.333 seconds for a total time of 43 minutes, 6.667 seconds. Imagine running that long over 135 mph up and down hills, and on corners!

She didn't know where they placed, but mentioned they ran over 145 mph for awhile to acheive the 135 average.

Spike

BTW, temperatures were probably in the high 80's while they were doing their run.

See http://nloc.org/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002424.html

They took 1st place!
After they made their run(s), they thought they were very close to their target speed. As it turns out, they were only 0.01 off!

Spike

Azeem:
Stan confirmed and said he'll see us Tuesday morning at Thunderhill. I could tell in his voice he was smiling ear to ear!

Way to go boys! Excellent run. Sounds like they are ready for the Silver State.
