| Registered User | Easiest way into the 8's in the 1/8 Hi guys I am new to the Lightnings as far as the tuning aspect goes and could use a little help. I have a 93 Lightning that is mildly modified, it has a catfree exhaust w, 21/2" dynomax bullets and a k&n air filter, that's it. The truck runs 9.7's in the 1/8 I am trying to get the truck in the 8's as easy and cheap as possible. I am wanting to get it in the 8's w/only bolt-ons and/or a computer chip/programmer. Like I said new to this so all opinions and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gene |

I went from running 9.7's to 8.6's with a powerdyne, but you could get in the 8's a different way. I say get a converter, underdrive pullies, sticky tires, 14-16* timing, E-fan, and maybe you will break an 8.9. If you want to be in the definite 8's I suggest heads and cam or a supercharger.

| Registered User | thanks for the response, not looking to spend the money for turbo, supercharger, and don't want nos b/c I want reliable consistent power. The route I was thinking about going was w/ a chip and a converter. My understanding would be that the two should get me there or very close, well atleast pick it up about 4 tenths. | Registered User | don't do a chip. at least get a tweecer. an off the shelf chip isn't going to do you much good. Just change your timing with the distributor. But if you really want a chip I have an off the shelf chip that took about .2 off my 0-60.
