Denatured alchol amd emissions

I got about 8 more days and my little pink slip in the window under my June 08 inspection sticker is Beat... Yea No way would I pass the visual at a state run inspection station. not to mention the loud exhaust would **** them off too.. I heard from a reliable source that mixing about a gallon of denatured to 5 gallons of gas and I would pass with flying colors. 2 years ago I failed the firat time on the rollers, here in Jersey you have to put some vehicles on the rollers for a few minutes while the sniffer is in the exhaust. I then pulled the spout and ran again and it passed. Has anybody done this will the denatured alchol hurt my injectors.. I have access to methonal , could I use that instead ??? any comments are welcome $100 here I come . I dare not even think about a state inspection station... Later guys!!!

NJ doesn't have emissions testing anymore. OBD II only. Anything older than a 96 just gets the visual inspection. You can check to verify, but the last 2 inspections I have gone through, they didn't even have rollers or a sniffer anymore.

By the time you pay the extra insurance, you could buy a dozen inspection stickers I can't wait to get OUT of Jersey!

Well, it looks like you better check on that. I've been searching the DMV site and it looks like they went back to the tailpipe on pre OBD-II vehicles. Let me know if they sniff you because my inspection was due in May

Here in north LA we still pay $10 (all we get is the month and year stickers)and since i sell auto parts i have plenty of friends that can take care of mine. i got a sticker once without even having the truck present.

Ok who is answering my question about the denatured alochol , Yes this
s ucker wants $100 to pass my truck. Now if I bring it to state inspection and they see no EGR, no smog pump , 2 cats instead of 4 and the not so quiet exhaust, the info from my truck is entered into a data base as FAILED!!! and I can't
(BY LAW) get it passed by a reinspection station!!! I would have to bring it back to the state!!! Oh well chit happens!!!

don t put that crap in there,it will rot the o rings in your fuel system.....use some good high octane unleaded. 104,ect.make sure it idles right round 15.1,oil is fresh and it will pass the 200 ppm standard. when i was in auto classes at college we did this in the shop with two old camaros with really big duration cams and gutted cats. idle was easy 100-120 ppm, and 2500 rpm hold was 170-180 ppm. which still passed. btw this was in houston.i dunno what yalls ppm tests are.

I didn't plan on leaving it stay in there, I was gonna pull over before I get to the reinspection station , pour 1/2 gallon in to about 4-5 gallons gas after I leave the place with a new sticker on it <> shouldn't take many miles to run that gas out. I mean is it that aggressive that a breif period on being in the fuel will rot out the orings??? Trust me the fuel will be burn't out buy the day's end!!!, Am I better off running methonal in there for a cleaner burn???
