Mass Air ECM?

i'm getting a wiring harness to convert to MA. The seller said its for the VEX or WAY computers. Do i have to use these or can i use others and whats the differnence between these and the other mustang computers? also is there any difference between the LX,GT,or Cobra computers?

mustang computers wont work because of the transmission. You will need a VEX1, WAY1, AKCO, or BIO0 pcm. Not sure if there are any others.

Thanks man. yea i kinda posted this prematurly before searching a lil bit. I heard about using the BIO0 computer and using an AKCO file in it. What makes the AKCO file better and why run it in a BIO0. This whole thing has me a little confused. Anybody out there that can explain it easily.

For the most part, it doesn't matter what calibration code you use if you plan on using aftermarket tuning software. I used an AKC0 database to tune my 94 F-150, mass air with an HOG0 ECU and it responded well to tuning changes using an AKC0 database; that database was actually better than the HOG0 database too.

i'm not too familiar with tuning, so all that talk about databases and such is like speaking spanish to me. i found a website that has ford ecms on it. couldn't I use a computer from a truck or bronco with MAF and a 5.8?

As long as the computer has SMD-272 on the sticker you can load the AKC0 file onto it.
SMD-272 is the computer hardware

you look at the tag on the ecm,and it will have smd-272 on it or not.
if it does, you can take a tweecerand put on it.then get someone to read the stock tune on there akco, and email you the base tune.once you have the base akco tune, and the ecm has smd-272 on the label, you can then write to tweecer, and it will put the base tune from the akco on that ecm.

the reason for doing that ,is because the akco has the same transmision parmeters in it as your factory sd ecm.what that does is make the truck 60 foot as close to stock as possible.it also is setup to use 30 lb injectors, but you have to have the maf from the ford kit.

and yes most likely you will have to tune your truck with a tweecer,or take it to a tuner and have him do it.

ok thanks. so i can run another ecm but i just have to have the AKCO program installed on it by a tweecer. Gotcha! Now as you might have been able to tell, the computer thing throws me for a loop. so does anyone know any good tune shops in North Jersey that deal with a tweecer or Gen 1's? cuz im having a hard time finding one

if you are going to run a mass air ecm,why not just ditch the tweecer, and let them use sct to burn you a custom tune and be done with it?

It would have to be for a 1996 5.0L F150 with an E4OD tranny. If not then it will not work.
