Cool

...i stand corrected

im amazed though. even in our little single engine airplanes, we cruise at 10,000 feet and keep the mixture rich enough that it dosent get over about 1380*. then again, were only turning 23-2500 rpm...

Things get dangerous at around 1800 degrees - that's where the exhaust valve and seat start to get seriously hot. 1400 means the tune is dead on. 1500 degrees means a little rich or lean (compared to 12:1) but it's nothing to worry about. At 1600 it's probably a good idea to consider some adjustments.

Timing and mixture both affect EGTs.

Muddie - I'm betting that the WRX temps you're talking about is downstream from the turbo.

Ok guys sounds like it's not to far off. The only thing i had to go from was when I was on the dyno it read 1400 and now out on the street it reads 1500

Do you think that the fact that street driving the hood is down, ie under hood temps are higher vs. dyno, hood up and fan is up blowing cool air in and around the headers? I dunno, the EGT is measuring the temp in the port as it is all happening so I don't know if outside influences are going to affect it that much. Just thinking out loud here.

Maybe the extra 100* is from driveing around and the engine heating up way more than runnning a minute on a dyno.

I think it has to do with the air flow across the intercooler going down the road vs on the dyno
