I was thinking the same thing. They also should of stopped it with the silver color and none of this blue stuff. Ford will not limit production to a lesser number because they are making too much money and no one else has the market. I am surely glad to have a gen1 tho. Nothing will ever compare to a L1 ... IMO.

Im glad that there were only 2280 Lightnings built in 1995. My build number is 567. To many new lightnings around my area. Half of them need training wheels for there big heads.

There's nothing good to come out of more and more Gen2s. Pretty soon, Gen2s will outnumber Gen1s 10:1. And 90% of the owners will never even be aware that there was a Gen1 ever made. It's already bad enough that the last few times I went to Cecil, there were 1-3 Gen1s, and 15-25 Gen2s running.

On the other hand, it is nice knowing that the more Gen2s being made, the rarer it'll be to see a Gen1 around, making them all more special.

Cool

also on the other hand, more G2's may just make it easier (cheaper?) to acquire more G1's

and on the color thing...i think if they really wanted to throw out another color, a retina-seering yellow woulda been a much smarter choice

I'm seeing alot of them around here, Central Florida that is. Alot of them are ending up on the used lot too. The only thing I see it doing is driving the price down really. As they become more available the price comes down. Thats how it works. Hey if it comes down enough, maybe I'll be able to talk the wife into letting me have a Black Gen 2 to go with the 94 Gen 1. I have to build another garage first though.

Brian, Gen 2s already outnumber Gen 1s (16,000 vs 11,000 produced). If we throw attrition in, Gen 2s probably outnumber Gen 1s by more than 2-to-1.

At a meeting in San Jose in '00, SVT told us they intended to triple Lightning production to 12K units a year by 2004. No one (except SVT) thought that was a particularly good idea. I really don't expect them to make it to 12K units because they can't sell the count they build now, but if they do that means one year of production will outnumber all the Gen 1s built.
