Post How Many Lightnings Do This??????????

I was looking in thread about how a Power-Dyned truck is running rich. I am having the same problem. Three weeks ago i put on the off road x pipe and my exhaust tips are looking a little black. When i warm my truck up in the morning i can hear it surging all the way in the house. When i get to a stop i let the truck leave at idle and i give a little gas and it acts as if it is going to turn off, like a hesitation. My truck is also a little rough when i put it in park. It always has a shake like every 4 seconds and when it gets the shake my trucks lights get dim. Also when i turn it on in the morning my truck blows black smoke. I dont know what is wrong with my truck but i know that is not normal. I have been in many different lightnings and they shake a little but not like mine. Two weeks ago i filled up both gas tanks and i got 290 mile out of both of them, so my gas mileage is not that good. If any of you have or had this problem please let me know what it is? TIA

Mine shakes like a ******* too, but you already know I'm having issues It doesn't really surge at all though, just a tiny tiny bit like 50-80 rpms back and forth.

I'm gonna see about getting the fpr recall done this weekend, maybe that will help stuff.

Well I have not seen a Gen 1 at all that doesn't surge. However I don't think it has to do with the powerdyne. My truck is normally aspirated and still does it. There was a guy that I discussed this with a few months ago when I bought my truck...he said when he put diagnostics on it that the timing would spike causing the surges. I have not done any research myself to see what is going on yet but I believe it is due to the EEC 4 computer we have. I am curious if the timing spike is an effect of too much fuel? I would think the computer may bump timing to help with a rich mixture? Anyway it is a common problem that I have not solved yet. I really don't think it is a major concern but it is certainly annoying.I will research some more.Post any developments because we all have the lumpy surge jerky idle thing.

Hey BLOG my truck does not surge that much either maybe 100rpm. I also got the fpr fixed about one month ago but to me it felt like it got even worse. I hope that someone that has fixed this problem can help. Hope that it is nothing bad, but it is starting to annoy the fuc* out of me.

hmmmmm....I have a bassani X-pipe no cats w/
side exit(ultra flows) and ever since I did that My tips a HEAVY black. I have the standard "L" surge too. But my gas milage is fair at best 350-360 on both tanks. But what has been driving me insane is it "pops"
very very slightly at idle. If you hold the revs'at 18-2000 and you stand by it you can here it very clearly. Like a bad valve or something. This truck has 75k and has been extremely well maintained. Tried everything
electric from tfi module to complete t/u (fuel filter inc). It neved did this till I changed the exhaust. My only other thought is cause I live at a bit of an altitude 3600ft this may cause the richness?????? If
anyone has had a similar problem and fixed it please post it thanks TONY

Question

maybe its always popped but you are just now hearing it with the new exaust. Sounds more like a spark issue than anything mechanical in my oppinion

Mine pops at 1600 rpm too

Perhaps its related to the surging/richness/shaking/pinging/egr codes thing.

At least everyone else has these problems too.

You may have already done this, but check the fuel pressure. See what it is doing. If you have a gauge you can see while driving the truck, see what the pressure does under a load and when at idle.

My truck is basically stock, but it does stumble when leaving from a dead stop if the engine hasn't warmed up yet. I have always thought this was because I had the FMS mass air kit with 30lb. injectors. I just think it's because the injectors are too big for the engine, it only does it on warmup.

My truck is almost completely stock with the exception of bassani pipe with no cats and the Borla Cat Back. I have a K@N Filter and a chip but thats it. I have noticed that I have a rougher Idle than I would expect. Everything has been maintained perfectly and it's always been this way. I also have the slight hesitation when it's cold. It's always been that way too.

Cool

I have one question for ALL the guys with this problem; Are you running any injectors other than stock??? Are you still on the stock computer? Thats the problem I was talking about, and everyone thought I was crazy. I had to remove the 24s and go back to stock 19s. It runs fine now. I even got 15.66MPG on the return trip from 'Bama. 19s RULE!

I am running stock injectors and my truck has done this since i got it about 1.5 year ago, and it only had 69,000 miles on it. But like i said iam getting like 280 mile on both gas tanks so there has to be somthing wrong.

My truck has a complete Bassani exhaust system on it and I never had a problem until I put the FRPP mass air kit on with the 30lb injectors. Now it is very cold blooded. When I first start it up it hesitates bad and has a rough idle, jumps around 100 rpm. I had Sal burn me a 4 program chip which seems to make the truck run better but it is still cold blooded. But I still get over 420 miles on both tanks.

Listen up Kids
Theres a device out ther called airbleed plate that attaches to the throttle body it lets you bleed extra air into the intake and will clear up the rough idle.the dealer has them for about 12.00 bucks. Call your local dealer to get exact name.Gauranted to work.
