Smile Need Help with center seat install

I got a center seat in excellent condition from another Lightning owner. He bought the truck from another guy who had put the center console in. When he bought the truck the other guy just gave him the seat and he had it stored, so he doesn't know how it had been installed before. I have pulled the passenger seat out and drilled out 3/4 inch closer to the door for the passenger seat to go back in. I'll do the driver side if I can figure out how the center seat mounts. The threaded studs on the center seat don't touch anywhere I can drill to mount. Is there a bracket that goes on the studs that mounts to the bottom pan? Here is a picture, and you can see the studs are in the air with nothing to mount to. Can someone help with some info or pictures? Thanks.

I would love to help, but that's not a factory seat is it. I have installed a factory seat.

The seat mounts farther up, maybe your regular seats are pushed all the way back I mounted my center seat with the front bolts on the very front railing of the seat frame.

Cool

RW,

I think I have your answers. That is a Full Effect/Downs seat you have. Now, if you are lucky, you will have a conversion adapter plate to mate the four studs to the big black steel plate that is already in the truck. Should be made of flat steel, maybe 3/16" think, in the shape of a square. The four studs from the bottom of the seat tracks will go through that frame. That frame, then, has three thru holes drilled into it, and those three holes will line up with the three holes that you used to bolt down the factory console. Simply re-use the factory console bolts and voila.

Looks like from your pic that the steel square frame is on there. If you tilt the seat bottom forward, lift out the little plastic storage tray, you will see the three holes in the steel frame. I have some pics that I will email you that should help you see what I am talking about.

If you have this adapater frame, great. You'll have the seat bolted in in 5 minutes. If not, it isn't the end of the world. You can fab it really easily.

I'll find theose pics here in a couple of minutes...

Hope that helps,

Hey Brian,

You can do that with the Ford seat like you have, but not with the Full Effect/Downs aftermarket seat.

So how do you like that seat in your truck?

Later,

Kevin, I would appreciate any pictures you can send me. I'll run outside now and take a look for that bracket. I figured I'm missing something like a bracket.

OK guys, I feel kinda dumb! You are right Kevin, the bracket is there under the plastic tray. Absolutely piece of cake, using the bolts from the center seat. Muddmann, I think I'll hang on to it now. I knew someone would know. Kevin, I just now received your pics while typing this. Thanks for taking the time to send not 1, but 5 pictures, I see exactly what you are talking about. This has got to be the best and informative board on the net!

Cool

RW,

Check your mail. I sent you a couple of pics. It's a total of about 300k. Hopefully you aren't on an ultra-slow dial-up like me...

Let me know if I can help further.

Have fun,

I have a cable modem, so no problem with receiving them. The pictures are great, thanks again. Now tomorrow all I have to do is take out the drivers side seat and drill out the holes and install everything back. This seat is immaculate and I bought it for $100.00.

No problem, glad I could help.

You'll need all of that space you can get.....gets real cozy in there.

You STOLE that seat for that price!

Have a good one,

Doh, well, now I know better at least.

The seat's working out nice, I miss the large storage space from the console though. And still fabreezing it every week to get the cigarette smell out of it But it's working out good, already put it to use, driving 6 hours with 2 passengers.
