Did you tow in overdrive?I was once told by someone that if I every towed with my truck not to use overdrive.I am not real sure about this maybe someone will verify this if its true.

so the truck was on the trailer? I would check the vacuum line to the map sensor. Mine fell off and caused all sorts of havoc, including INSANELY hard shifts. Was kinda fun, until the tranny started spurting fluid.

Cool

SVT.
Diconnect your battery for a few minutes, then reconnect and see how it shifts then.
That may correct the problem.

I have trailered my race car with my L many times (trailer and car = 3500lbs) using overdrive over hilly terrain and never had shifting problems after. On long hills I manually pop it out of O.D.

Thumbs up

yeah you tripped an error code on the computer putting it into an emergency mode. This may have occured because you overheated the tranny while towing. Like stated above unhooking the battery for awile will fix it although Im not sure 5 minutes is long enough from my own experience. Id have to guess that this is the start of tranny problems. Is your L a 93?

Cool

Unhook the battery for at least 30 min. to clear the computer of codes. Then hook it back up and let the truck run at idle for about 10 mins so the computer can relearn the idle. Then drive.

I have read in the past and even again recently in one of my truck magazines that you shouldn't trailer in overdrive. The extra load combined with the overdrive causes the tranny to get hotter and leads to permanent tranny damage over a period of time. That is why Ford puts the little button on the end of the shift lever. Don't feel bad if you didn't know this. I didn't know it either until someone mentioned it to me and then I started researching it to see if he was right.
