| Guest | I was wondering if any one out there has installed the 165's on their L ?! I've seen a lot of hype about the 185's ,......but nothing on 165's, at least nothing from anyone on this forum! If you compare the flow numbers on both these heads, they're very close!! Exactly on the exhaust side. You don't see any big differences in the #'s, until the .600 lift range for the 185's. Every piece of literature that I've read on the flow characteristics of cylinder heads, has said that get your flow numbers as high as you can, while doing that with the smallest runner size!! (such as the 165's) That way, you will not lose any throttle reponse or low end grunt!! It seems like the 165's would be a great head for any of us that are intending on keeping our rev's low (around 5400-5500)?! Need some input & opinions out there?! |

| Guest | i agree the 165s would be perfect for the average L owner. someone whos not gonna add a blower or something down the road. i think they will see bigger torque gains with the smaller head and torque = better seat of the pants. if your just wanting more power out of your stock L i think these are the way to go but if you plan on adding a blower or stroking the engine at some point you probably should get the 185s |

| Guest | I have a Power-Dyne on my truck! I also have a Crane (lightning specific) cam that falls off a cliff after .500 lift! I don't think the blower comes into play, Unless (as far *** the difference between these two heads) you've got some big lift on your cam and will be seeing some high rpm's ( which I will not). My truck will never see over the 5500/5600 range! Quote:

| Guest | If you get the 165's you will have to have a machine shop align drill the mounting holes out. They are set up for 7/16" bolts not 1/2" Otherwise they are a bolt on. Talk to Ken Woodward he is loving his 185's Later Steve ------------------ 94 Crimson #2826 Born May 6, 1994 NLOC member #343 Team Powerdyne, 13.49@ 102mph Wanting 12's 'GREASED' |

| Guest | You'll get plenty of velocity on a 351 with the 185s. Plus if you're running a blower it means more plenum space - which is actually more important in boosted applications than is port velocity. I'd go with the 185s on a 351 or bigger. ------------------ Later! Jeff S.
