| Guest | Shut off on me going down the interstate. Starts for a split second but shuts right off. Smoke out the exhaust. Any ideas what to look at or for? Going to take a look at it now but any thoughts you guys have will be appreciated. Thanks ------------------ Sam Sells NLOC#617 '95 #1325 Powerdyned 13.555@101.38 |

| Guest | I dont like the smoke out the exhaust, as that could be a head gasket. So, can you give a little more detail, Sam? Did it start to sputter or just quit? Were you at 10psi of boost or cruising? First Id check all of your connections for the ignition/coil. Make sure your blower tube didnt get blown off. All the vaccume lines and see if you have fuel pressure on your guage. Check all of the normal stuff, oils and see what you have. Im sure we'll figure this out. That sucks having to get towed home. | Guest | I was cruising(no boost). It might have sputtered but I think it shut right off. It starts to crank but then it is like it stalls. I didn't think there was any codes but I am getting: 542 (O,M) Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on Power / Fuel Pump Circuits 556 (O,M) Fuel pump relay primary circuit fault Power / Fuel Pump Circuits |

| Guest | Could be fuel pressure regulator failure. Don't know how modded you L is. My regulator failed and the high fuel pressure caused an extreme rich condition to the point of smoke out the exhaust from unburned fuel and stumbling. If stock, this is a currently recalled item. |

| Guest | Ok boys, prepare to laugh! I had disconnected by bypass for something monday. I forgot to tighten a screw that held the discharge tube in at the throttle body. I can't believe I didn't see it hanging off when I was on the side of the road. I got my dad to come over to help me push it in garage and showed him what it was doing. The hood was up and he said, "did you disconnect this"? All I could say was hell yeah.........MONDAY! I'm a DORK! Thanks for the fast responses when I thought there was a problem! Let the jokes begin! ------------------ Sam Sells NLOC#617 '95 #1325 Powerdyned 13.555@101.38 |

| Guest | Ok, since I'm not blown, I don't understand why the discharge tube not being connected would make a difference. I know some of y'all take the blower belt off and run a cone filter on the TB during long trips, so if it runs this way, why wouldn't it run if the discharge tube is disconnected? ------------------ John |

| Guest | Could it be that he was getting way too much fuel and not enough air to go with the mixture and therefore the motor wouldn't run? Flooded out or something? ------------------ Adam B. 1994 Red SVT Lightning #2019 |

| Guest | Don't feel bad, we all have had a brain fart at one time or another. I could remember changing the oil in my 1977 750 honda and putting the plug in the oil tank hand tight. This was many moons ago. Well to make a long story short I was cruising down the road on a late night and I saw the oil light blink on a few times, good thing for idiot lights. It then came on and stayed on , so I pulled over. You could see the oil trial on the road for as far as I could see. Bummer was I had to push the bike 2 miles to a store with a phone to get help. Cell phone ? what was that back then. Never found the drain plug and I looked. I felt like a fool too but at least I didn't hurt my bike. ------------------ Dennis Macho 95 RED NLOC #277 13.38 @ 102.71 unhooked |

| Guest | Well the tube hanging off was kinda blocking the inlet to the throttle body. When I got it home and tried to crank it, same thing, it would fire up but then shut right off. It sat for a little bit while I was checking the site. I called my dad to come over and help me push it in the garage. Started it so he could see what it was doing and it started but just barely stayed running, putting out alot of smoke. The hood was open at this time and that was when he saw it was hanging loose and asked if/why I had that off. I think with it blocking the inlet and all the heat it didn't get enough air. Once it sat alittle bit the air was cooler enough just so it would barely run. Thats what I guess. I will definatly check all screws for tightness now. ------------------ Sam Sells NLOC#617 '95 #1325 Powerdyned 13.555@101.38 |
